The Principal, Program Manager role for Industrial Buildings (IB) is a member of the Industrial Buildings Food & Beverage (F&B) Leadership Team and is responsible for managing major programs/projects and leading the pursuit, project delivery and client management within F&B and other markets within the sector as needed. You will work closely with the Sector and F&B Market Leadership to develop business development strategies to support new and existing client relationships while developing effective program management with the goal to provide stellar project execution and sustainable growth. You will serve as a seller-doer by generating work, creating long-term relationships, and delivering long-term value to clients. It is expected that 80-85% of your time will be in direct support of local projects and pursuits averaging 65% in direct billable time and 20% towards pursuits.

The Principal, Program Manager role is also responsible for engaging across the IB practice, its projects and pursuits, and the industry at large as a brand ambassador. In addition, we are looking for a leader to inspire our team, represent design excellence, and reinforce the global brand of Stantec. Your Key Responsibilities

Client & Project Focus

  • Serve as the Principal, Program Manager for multiple client programs serving as the executive sponsor overseeing the client relationship and project delivery.

  • Oversee the delivery of major F&B projects over $3M in fee, with a focus on knowledge sharing to unite delivery and standards across the program.

  • Take ownership and maintain full accountability for project performance. Key performance measures would include 57% GM or higher as the baseline for financial success.

  • Collaborate with local BCs and project teams on talent management over the course of the project, ensuring project teams are appropriately staffed, teams are supported and have appropriate capacity and resources, and key roles have succession plans.

  • Responsible for client satisfaction and issue resolution (follows up and takes corrective action when needed).

  • Inspire the project leadership team of Principals-in-Charge and Project Managers and ensure the project is on track. Communicating vision and scope of project with clearly communicating client’s goals, constraints, and priorities to the project team.

  • Make decisions on major project events, taking into consideration the impact the final direction has on the project goals and all disciplines within a project.

  • Provide senior advisory direction to project managers to promote consistency and collaboration across the F&B market and IB sector.

  • Directs contract negotiations with clients and consultants and reviews and approves fee proposals as prepared by the Project Manager.

  • Serve as the knowledge center for the client, establishing pursuit and delivery approaches that are effective and repeatable such as consistent pricing proposals and proposal templates.

Business Development & Collaboration

  • Responsible for accelerating growth targets for programs under the F&B portfolio in line with annual growth targets.

  • Contribute to F&B strategy and growth goals, helping to attract top tier clients and achieve top line growth for F&B and the Industrial sector.

  • Work closely with market leads to direct strategic proposal development including assembling the pursuit team, identifying, and coordinating with team partners, and orchestrating and communicating across groups throughout the pursuit phase.

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of Stantec’s collective expertise and partner with leaders across the Industrial sector, geographies and disciplines, to drive collaboration on pursuits.

  • Provide hand-on involvement within project pursuit and development activities such as coordination go-no go procedures, RFQ/RFP process, project interviews, project team development, engagement of high-value centers for competitive bidding strategy and support/lead the definition of the project pursuit plan win strategy including strategic proposal development and project team coordination to achieve business development and financial goals.

  • Attend and participate in sector leadership meetings to support management and strategy for the sector and be active within execution of these plans.

  • Work collaboratively with Marketing to secure new clients and new work, including the preparation of proposals, interviews, and presentations.

Outreach

  • Develop and maintain industry relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub-consultants, competitor/teaming partners, and with top talent in the industry.

  • Serve as a leader to inspire our team, represent design, and reinforce the global brand of Stantec.

  • Motivate and inspire others along with inspiring confidence and trust in clients and potential clients.

  • Contribute to the thought leadership and brand of Stantec, by sharing knowledge and innovation stories at key client engagements, industry events and across professional networks.

  • Mentor and coach next generation of project leaders, designers and thought leaders, as well as receive mentoring and coaching.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong resume and network in the Industrial sector.

  • Demonstrated success leading pursuits and projects of significant fee.

  • Ability to lead project teams across a range of Industrial project types that include variety, scale, and complexity.

  • Acumen related to project delivery innovations in IPD, APD, Modular approaches and related advancements.

  • Experience with strategic pre-positioning for pursuits inclusive of engagement strategies, responding to Expression of Interests, Statements of Qualifications, Requests for Proposals, formal interviews, and professional fee and contract negotiations.

  • Strong business development skills, including significant experience developing and maintaining productive relationships with a client base seller-doer capable of generating work and creating long-term relationships and delivering long-term value to clients for Stantec.

  • An entrepreneurial orientation with a strong understanding of the business development challenges of a consulting services provider

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent organization, coordination, leadership, team building and team engagement talent

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Architecture or Engineering

  • Licensed and credentialed Architect or Engineer, preferred

  • 15+ years of experience in the architecture & engineering industry

Pay Range:

  • Locations in WA, DC & Various CA areas - Min Salary $ 204,100.00 - Max Salary $ 316,400.00

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
