Our Building Specialty Services (BSS) group is one of the fastest-growing service offerings at our organization that includes a diverse mix of professionals with practical design, field, and industry research, and product development expertise. This group is able to seek the best projects with the best clients because they deliver expertise that empowers designers to create high-performing buildings without compromising budget or function.

Stantec is seeking an ambitious person to fill the Senior Code Consultant for our Ottawa office.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Apply Building and Fire Codes to new building designs as well as to existing buildings and renovations.

  • Review work prepared by others for typical projects and provide technical mentorship to a growing team of Code Consultants.

  • Prepare Code reports and other technical communication for more complicated projects.

  • Support internal and external clients by advising on the application of Codes and standards.

  • Coordinate project teams including other staff, contractors, and other technical disciplines for successful project delivery.

  • Investigate, advise, and solve unusual design and Code problems.

  • Prepare project proposals and liaise with clients to understand their needs and identify new opportunities.

  • Identify new clients and opportunities to expand Code Consulting services.

  • Manage projects and be the primary client contact.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Ability to conduct business development.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and persuasively.

  • Strong technical skills and strong knowledge of Building and Fire Codes and related standards, Ontario and National Code knowledge is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and communicate with clients, authorities and contractors.

  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Engineering or Architecture required.

  • Minimum 6 years Code Consulting experience is preferred.

Pay Range:

  • Locations in Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 107,600.00 - Max Salary $ 161,400.00

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
