Your Opportunity
The role of a Civil Engineer in Community Development is to design a wide range of public and private development projects throughout the US West (Texas, Colorado, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii) under the guidance of a Project Manager with a team of designers and/or EIT’s.
A Civil Engineer will perform a variety of tasks which may include analysis, calculations, preparation of exhibits, cost estimates, schedules, specifications, and construction documents. The projects that a Civil Engineer may be assigned to may be broad, varied, and diverse in scope.
Your Key Responsibilities
Perform civil engineering design including layout/geometry, grading, drainage, roadways, paving, water, sewer, and erosion control on public works projects.
Perform civil engineering design for private clients including industrial and commercial site design, and subdivision design
Assist with preparing complete submission packages, supporting calculations, and quantity and cost estimates for project entitlement and construction documents.
Assist with agency follow-up/coordination during the review approval process.
Participate and assist with project team coordination.
Prepare concept design and perform study phase activities, including project research, existing site constraints, assessment of project feasibility, and provide input to project team on civil engineering related issues.
Utilizes technologies in development of three-dimensional models of civil systems.
Check own work for quality assurance and quality control on projects and assist with facilitating overall project QA/QC.
Assists in the development of new standards, enhancing production workflow, and refining design details.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Understanding of project document production of drawings
Possesses excellent time-management skills
Ability to discuss and deliver on task assignment deliverables, schedule, and budget targets
Ability to coordinate and collaborate with others
Ability to provide creative and critical input in a team setting
Strong understanding of civil engineering concepts
Strong oral and written communication skills
AutoCAD Civil 3D experience in roadway, utility, and site design
Self-starter who can work independently and with a team
Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering or a related degree.
Licensed Professional Engineer (to be received within one (1) year of start date).
4+ years of experience. Experience with site development projects including site feasibility, stormwater design, grading design, roadway design, site design, sewer and water design.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:
- Locations in WA, DC & Various CA areas - Min Salary $ 104,200.00 - Max Salary $ 151,000.00
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
