Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking an Environmental Planner to join our Assessment and Permitting team within the Environmental Services practice, working within our Ottawa office. You will join a team that delivers expertise to a wide variety of infrastructure sectors.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage project tasks and deliverables, and assist with implementing the environmental assessment and permitting process as it applies to infrastructure projects.

  • Conduct field and desktop studies in support of regulatory requirements, and develop and implement consultation programs.

  • Communicate and liaise with a variety of project stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, members of the public, and internal multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Write and coordinate proposals and reports tailored to specific project requirements

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong listening and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work seamlessly with multidisciplinary project teams

  • Capacity to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills

  • Proven project management skills, delivering quality results on time and within budget

  • Self-motivated with excellent technical writing and public speaking skills

  • Previous experience undertaking environmental impact assessments, such as the Class EA process

Education and Experience

A university degree or post-undergraduate college diploma in Environmental Planning, Environmental Studies, or a related field is required

Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental program and project development, implementation, and management, with a focus on infrastructure projects

Membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute, OAIA, or ECO Canada EP designation preferred

Consulting experience preferred

Expertise in community consultationsis preferred

Experience with project management, maintaining billable work, and ensuring successful project deliveries preferred

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
