Stantec is seeking a Client Services Lead/Senior Project Manager to support our growth with multiple Power clients in the New York and broader East Coast Region. This leadership position will be a key part of Stantec’s Environmental Services team that provides the full range of expertise needed to address a variety of projects, including support to public utilities, new electric transmission and rebuild projects, project access road planning and design, substation and battery storage facility design, and solar due diligence and permitting. Our staff members have established excellent working relationships with utilities and Power sector developers throughout the Region, and our knowledge and interdisciplinary expertise allow us to help our clients develop the most effective and innovative solutions.

Your Key Responsibilities

Client Services Lead

  • Grow key accounts with a focus on environmental services.

  • Identify trends and develop a long-term view of the industry, market, and client base.

  • Understand the client’s growth strategies, initiatives, needs, and expectations and then translate that understanding into project awards.

  • Communicate the client’s needs and expectations, lead the marketing and pursuit of new opportunities, coordinate projects awarded to Stantec, and monitor project execution to ensure delivery is consistent with the client’s expectations.

  • Work in collaboration with our Technical Leaders to ensure client satisfaction, with the ultimate mission of becoming our client’s trusted advisor.

  • Recruit the industry’s top environmental professionals to grow our team.

  • Lead proposals and other marketing efforts to grow environmental services.

  • Understand our service offerings and collaborate with our Business Lines to identify opportunities to grow existing services, offer “other” or new services that meet client needs and expand our geographic coverage for the client.

  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships, including seeking opportunities for new business.

Senior Project Manager

  • Serve as Senior Project Manager, Advisor, or Project Technical Lead for projects, with responsibility for project delivery.

  • Provide leadership for projects in within New York and the broader Region, performing a variety of tasks to plan, execute and deliver the completed project.

  • Work with more staff to execute environmental permitting strategy, develop regulatory strategy, and direct environmental field surveys and construction compliance for a variety of projects.

  • Complete and/or oversee the preparation of permit applications, including Section 404/401 permits, State Environmental Protection permits, Stormwater Management Permits, involving gathering supporting documentation, and coordinating comment response with agencies.

  • Complete and/or oversee the preparation of technical reports for the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), State Departments of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and other federal, state, and local agencies.

  • Prepare budgets and identify tasks while carrying out project work within agreed timeframes, profitably and on budget, and within the Stantec PM framework.

  • Perform quality assurance/ quality control reviews of environmental deliverables.

  • Support and ensure the implementation of Stantec Health, Safety, Security, & Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work and coordinate with HSSE professionals during the execution of all phases of project planning and implementation.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Knowledge of state & federal laws & regulations and applicable policies & procedures to advise others on interpretations & experiences with permitting, and NEPA documentation, including the USACE, USFWS, NOAA, and State agencies.

  • Demonstrated capability as a client trusted advisor and ability to develop new business in the Power Sector.

  • Skilled in verbal and written communications, including advanced technical writing abilities, regulatory agency negotiations, and requests for proposals responses.

  • Skilled at prioritizing, organizing, managing, and performing multiple work assignments simultaneously.

  • Skilled with computer applications and functions, including Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, Outlook.

  • Ability to prepare, read and interpret scientific/technical documents and plans for the affects/impacts to environmental resources.

  • Ability to perform work accurately in a detail-oriented environment and meet client schedules, deadlines, and budgets.

  • Ability to work with initiative, professionalism, confidentiality, and is able to work independently, multi-task and adapt to change in a very dynamic environment.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with the strong ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships amongst the team and client.

  • Ability to develop and implement a succession plan throughout career development, namely through the mentorship of mid-level and junior staff.

  • The successful candidate will be self-motivated, self-directed, and possess the ability to make sound business decisions.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Masters’ degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Studies, Policy, Planning, Geology, or related discipline preferred. Advanced degrees preferred.

  • 15+ years of experience specific to regulatory practice in the environmental field preferably in New York and the broader east region

  • 10+ years of experience in a business development role with demonstrated success in client management and growth.

  • 10+ years’ experience managing projects in the Power sector including electric transmission and solar.

Pay Range:

  • Locations in MN, VT, & Various CA, NY Areas - Min Salary $ 124,800.00 - Max Salary $ 187,200.00

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
