As our workload is growing, we’re looking for a standout Senior or Principal Planner to work with our team to deliver impactful projects for our clients. Someone who is self-motivated, well networked, and thrives on the opportunity to develop strong client relationships, manage projects and to grow their career will fit well with our established Planning team.
About the role
The ideal person will have a proven track record providing professional planning and resource management advice and services to clients. You’ll be motivated, enjoy working with great people on impactful projects, and have strong professional experience as a Planning consultant. If you join our team, you’ll get to:
Lead and manage a range of interesting and challenging technical Planning projects
Manage the preparation of statutory planning applications and documents
Lead, coordinate and programme multi-disciplinary project teams
Prepare evidence for first order Council hearings and / or Environment Court proceedings and appear as an expert witness
Participate in sharing knowledge of statutory planning with other team members and colleagues in other disciplines, including tracking and understanding legislative changes
Maintain and improve your technical standards in planning and resource management
Support the development of new clients and business opportunities for Stantec
Work across multiple disciplines to deliver great projects that meet or exceed client expectations
To be successful in this role you will need
Full membership of the NZPI (or eligibility to apply)
Broad resource management planning experience – at least eight years professional practice
A strong working knowledge of National, Regional and District Planning frameworks
Experience of infrastructure consenting and related policy development is desirable.
The ability to respond effectively to client needs and establish and maintain positive relationships
Established professional networks and/or proven business development skills
Effective communication skills and great problem solving and negotiation skills
Familiarity working with the Auckland Unitary Plan would be an advantage.
