Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists for a driven and optimistic individual to become the Business Center Practice Leader (BCPL) for the Community Development Business Centre (BC) based out of Calgary, Alberta. Reporting to the Canada West Regional Business Leader (RBL), the BCPL will guide the team in the pursuit of interesting projects with the best clients in the market. The BCPL is accountable for sustaining and growing the top line net revenue of the BC, while working collaboratively with the Business Center Operations Leader (BCOL) in support of business operations and project delivery. The BCPL’s primary focus is on local and regional clients within the Southern Alberta and Saskatchewan Region but they will also work collaboratively with other BCPLs across other areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads business development activities including sales plans, account management, proposal process & governance, business development meetings, and client surveys.

  • Supports, and when required, leads the optimization of Stantec’s core business processes, including adoption of new technology, innovation, and work practices to improve the BC’s competitive advantage and value proposition.

  • Cascade’s sales goal accountability to a core group including Principals, Team Leads, Project Managers and other identified business developers.

  • Conducts regular touchpoints with each business developer to help them overcome roadblocks, ensure the health of their sales funnel to meet utilization targets, strategize on pursuits and value propositions, and chart their long-term career growth.

  • Monitors team sales KPIs and proactively identify the actions to continuously improve each month.

  • Instills a culture of continuous learning and enables growth amongst the core group of business developers.

  • Analyzes team performance data to suggest scalable improvements to core sales processes and sales training.

  • Fosters a transparent, inclusive, and achievement-oriented team culture.

  • Consistently demonstrates a commitment to the Health and Safety culture within the BC.

  • Supports the Business Center Operations (BCOL) Leader in achieving key operational and delivery performance.

  • Collaborates with the BCOL and management team to contribute to the BC annual business plan and budget.

  • Actively involved in broad project oversight to maintain personal utilization targets, including executing strategic projects in a lead role (i.e. Project Manager, Technical Lead) as required.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Track record of overachievement against individual and team quotas.

  • Strong experience in project delivery and business development activities.

  • Experience with process improvement and fostering a continuous improvement culture.

  • Strong understanding of the Community Development consulting business, including proposal management and account management.

  • Proven ability to effectively lead, challenge, and inspire staff to work together cohesively as a team.

  • Demonstrated ability to champion both technical and customer service excellence with conviction and purpose.

  • Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of Community Development related consulting experience.

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture or a related equivalent within the land development industry. Professional designation and registration is preferred.

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
