About the role
Stantec is strengthening our footprint in New South Wales and expanding our capabilities across the region. As part of this growth, our Sydney team is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer / Superintendent to help drive continued success and deliver impactful infrastructure projects.
As a Senior Engineer, you’ll manage the delivery of major civil engineering projects, ensuring high technical standards and commercial viability. Your responsibilities will include construction supervision, contract administration, and project management across a range of civil infrastructure works. You’ll also provide technical and contractual support to project teams, oversee project delivery, and ensure compliance with relevant standards and quality systems.
You’ll also work closely with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to manage project scope, budget, and timelines. The role includes performing Superintendent duties under AS4000, AS2124, and/or PAP under GC21, and contributing to business development through identifying new opportunities and preparing proposals.

Day to day tasks would involve:
Lead multidisciplinary teams in the delivery of construction phase services for civil infrastructure projects.
Provide technical and contractual support to ensure high-quality, cost-effective project outcomes aligned with best practices.
Perform Superintendent duties under AS4000, AS2124 and/or PAP under GC21, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and systems.
Manage project scope, budgets, and timelines while maintaining strong communication with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
Contribute to business planning, identify new project opportunities, and support proposal development.
Mentor and supervise junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning, performance, and collaboration.
Qualifications
To be successful for this role you'll need:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
Minimum 5 years working experience in consulting field and/or recognised as a senior engineer in your current role (land development and civil infrastructure project experience highly desirable)
Professional Engineering registration/ RPEQ accreditation – Preferable
Proven expertise in construction supervision, contract administration, and project management, with a strong ability to deliver high-quality civil infrastructure projects.
Demonstrated leadership in guiding multidisciplinary teams, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proven experience in time management and organisational skills including the ability to manage resources and delegate tasks effectively.
Ongoing commitment to professional development through self-study, training and seminars, and maintaining your Continual Professional Development (CPD)
