About the role
Our established geosciences team is looking for a Senior Soil Technician to work within our specialist NATA laboratory located in Mackay. You will have knowledge within the soil, aggregate and rock testing sector. The successful candidate will need to have prior experience working in and around civil construction sites including bulk earthworks and inspections. This is a permanent role, and the successful candidate will receive direct support from our existing NATA Laboratory Manager, Queensland engineering team including RPEQ engineers, geologists and scientists. Our laboratory team undertakes sampling, testing and inspection for a wide variety of clients including government, mining and the private sector including international clients in the south Pacific. This role will see you provide technical assistance of laboratory testing services at our Mackay NATA laboratory and site inspection/testing within the Central Queensland region.
You will be based in our Mackay office and will require occasional travel to fulfil sampling, inspection and client meetings. Successful candidates will be developed in a professional and personal sense and provided with an opportunity to forge a challenging and rewarding career path in a successful consultancy.
Day to day tasks would involve:
Collect, prepare & perform complex sampling and testing analysis
Produce & review NATA test reports
Manage, lead and mentor the junior laboratory team
Calibration checks
Laboratory quality management
To be successful for this role you'll need:
Min. Certificate III level qualifications in the geotechnical field or laboratory management techniques
Ability to multitask and work over a broad spectrum of projects
Driving Licence
Familiar with relevant Australian Standards and construction materials testing
Radiation licence and proven experience with nuclear radiation densometer
Ability to complete a pre-employment medical
