Process Engineers focus on the design, operation, control, optimization, and intensification of chemical, physical/mechanical, and biological processes. They develop and modify process formulations, methods, and controls to meet quality standards and recommend and implement improvements, modifications, or additions to document work. A Career Level 3 Process Engineer EIT performs engineering work under close supervision requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out a sequence of related process engineering tasks such as the preparation of simple plans, designs, calculations, costs and bills of material in accordance with established codes, standards and drawings. Applies professional concepts and expands upon learning while performing various phases of engineering work receiving detailed instruction

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Use knowledge of general concepts of process engineering elements through investigation and analysis, to support buildings engineering projects with a primary focus in FDA regulated facilities

  • Perform basic calculations to analyze, model and design process system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.

  • Assist team in preparing process designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports, and gather information to support design decisions.

  • Assist in basic interpretation and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.

  • Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer.

  • Assist the team in providing support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information and contract document clarifications.

  • Perform field work related to construction related activities as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.

Location

Position location is flexible to one of three offices in the business center to support clients in the Northeast region: Albany, NY; Binghamton, NY; and Burlington, MA. Partial work from home is negotiable per agreement with hiring manager. Intermittent travel for client site visits may be required on a per project basis. Extended travel assignments are not required.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience designing in accordance with cGMP’s within biotechnology / pharmaceutical industry strongly preferred.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution with an emphasis in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. Experience designing in accordance with cGMP’s within biotechnology / pharmaceutical industry strongly preferred.

  • Employees will be required to comply with all applicable local licensing and/or certification requirements. Candidates with EIT designation strongly preferred.

  • Preferable years of related work experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Office - Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting. Noise level varies but generally at levels of conversation. Majority of time spent using computer/laptop at workstation and related office equipment. Time spent carrying, reaching, lifting, bending, pushing and pulling Up to 9 kilograms / 20 pounds Occasional – 1-33% of shift. Subject to extended periods of sitting; may be required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk short to moderate distances to perform work. Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment if required*.

Field - Activities are performed in a variety of indoor and outdoor work environments that may change regularly based on project requirements. Work in an environment where the noise and temperature levels may vary. Time spent carrying, reaching, lifting, bending, pushing and pulling Up to 23 kilograms / 50 pounds Occasional – 1-33% of shift. Subject to some periods of sitting; will be required to stand for moderate lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Requirement to wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required*.

*Safety Equipment - wear personal protective equipment is required and may include one or all of the following: steel toed shoes/boots, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, coveralls, respirators, etc.

Pay Range:

• Locations in MN, OH, VT, & Various CA, NY Areas-$67,800.00 - $94,900.00 Annually

• Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA areas-$80,000.00 - $112,000.00 Annually
