Your Opportunity:
A Senior Project Manager (PM) and Project Technical Lead (PTL) is a key part of Water’s business leadership and oversees an important part of our growth and delivery strategy for North American Water. This role sustains and grows our water business across North America. This role also collaborates with other business lines to lead and support growth.
The Senior PM / PTL leverages their knowledge of industry drivers, market trends, technology, and client and partner relationships to define business strategies, identify key market opportunities, and win and execute work that transforms our business and inspires our people. This role focuses on large coastal storm management, flood risk reduction, and civil works programs across the United States, including but not limited to Galveston, Jacksonville, New Orleans, Puerto Rico, Vicksburg, Charleston, Wilmington, Rock Island, Baltimore, St. Paul, St. Louis, Norfolk, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York. The Senior PM / PTL leads pursuit and delivery teams, fosters knowledge transfer, engages subject matter experts in pursuits, and provides technical support to project delivery in the sector. This role develops regional clients and accounts and supports similar initiatives across North America. They are also responsible for elevating Stantec's brand and thought leadership in the industry.
Your Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
Serve as Senior PM or PTL for water infrastructure projects, with responsibility for reviewing and guiding project delivery teams.
Coordinate with clients to manage quality delivery and develop relationships.
Provide technical leadership for projects, performing a variety of tasks to plan, execute, and deliver projects to ensure quality requirements are met.
Plan, organize, and manage the production of project deliverables to ensure on-time delivery, technical quality, and adherence to budget.
Manage technical staff on technically evidenced proposals as project issues arise with clients, contractors, equipment suppliers/vendors, or reviewing agencies.
Execute multiple concurrent programs and projects.
Conduct alternative analyses to support business case evaluations for project decisions.
Effectively apply industry standards as well as client standards and requirements.
Team Building
Mentor developing professionals to guide their career development objectives.
Review team members’ work and provide technical guidance on design approaches and challenges.
Perform on technically complex projects and act as a technical resource by providing guidance to other team members.
Identify technical candidates and strategic hires to further the growth of Stantec Water.
Conduct work in a safe manner and promote health and safety within the office and outside the office while visiting clients and job sites.
Attract, develop, and retain qualified professionals to contribute to the discipline.
Actively participate in and/or lead one or more industry or trade organizations.
Assist in recruiting and hiring, staff development, and succession planning.
Lead major pursuits and projects as Principal-in-Charge or Senior Project Manager.
Support Business Development Activities
Develop and execute strategy by using an understanding of market position, drivers, and trends to identify and prioritize key clients, programs, projects, and geographies.
Assist with developing technical approaches for Statements of Qualifications and help prepare the technical aspects for proposals and client interviews.
Develop relationships with clients, earn their confidence, and become a trusted adviser.
Participate in local and national professional associations, actively seeking leadership roles and presenting at conferences.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
Minimum of 20 years of experience.
Professional Engineer certification required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Extensive experience in program and project planning and delivery.
Commitment to establishing and maintaining professional standards, quality, and health and safety.
Strong leadership, management, business development, communication, and team-building skills.
Results-oriented individual who excels in a multidisciplinary environment.
Proven experience in building relationships with clients, business leaders, and team members.
Desire to succeed, enthusiasm, and a high degree of integrity.
Position will primarily work in an office setting. Some travel required to other Stantec office locations, the field, and/or meetings with clients.
