Your Opportunity

We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Project Delivery Energy team in our Calgary office. As a Project Manager you will lead a team of professionals in the design and construction of small to large scale industrial and commercial energy projects. You will be the key client interface point and will be responsible to ensure that work is completed on budget, schedule, and in accordance with safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Overall leadership of the project team

  • Understand and ensure that client expectations related to project scope are met and exceeded

  • Review and contribute to project contract/rate negotiations

  • Establish and maintain positive internal and external stakeholder relationships

  • Independently develop project proposals, resource plans, project execution plans, and quality plans

  • Accountable for managing, monitoring, and control of project performance against approved budget, schedule, quality, and safety requirements.

  • Proactively employ project change and risk managemen

  • Prepare and present project progress and cost reports to internal and external stakeholders

  • Lead your project team to strive towards value engineering solutions that lead to client cost and schedule savings

  • Review, submit, and track all project related invoices and payments.

  • Site travel is expected, and position may require travel to site 1 – 3 days / quarter.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Excellent organizational and communication (written and oral) skills are critical for this role

  • Genuine team player who will encourage teamwork with the project team and with other discipline staff

  • Strong ability to mentor junior project managers, project engineers, and project team staff

  • Demonstrable experience in project controls and scheduling is considered essential for this role

  • Ability to apply strong technical and problem-solving skills to pro-actively make decisions on project and design related issues

  • High degree of familiarity in contract/rate negotiations and reviews

  • Responsible for multiple projects, and be able to carry out multiple tasks within each project

  • Ability to challenge specifications and non-optimal designs and provide value added alternatives

  • Knowledge of project management principles and processes

  • Working knowledge of applicable industry, national, and provincial codes, and standards

Experience & Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or technical school diploma/certification, with a minimum of 20 years of experience as a project manager

  • Licensed Professional Engineer or Professional Licensee with APEGA is required

  • Preference for 15 years of experience leading and executing large size Thermal/SAGD/In-Situ/Oilsands related projects.

  • Consideration for experience in energy transition related projects; including bio-industrial, carbon capture, and hydrogen as well as traditional conventional oil and gas and compression projects would be an asset for this position.

  • Experience in coordinating/leading project proposal responses

  • Project Management Certification (PMP) certification is considered an asset

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
