Your Opportunity
Team leaders are the front-line managers in operational control, responsible for ensuring that overall team results (top line and bottom line) of their teams are achieved, and for ensuring Year End Review & Career objectives are established and followed.
Your role as a senior leader and contributor on our professional consulting services team is to work independently on large projects of high complexity, and as a leader of a team or project through all phases of a project lifecycle. You are responsible for developing and implementing an engineering discipline group equipped with up-to-date engineering and design tools and innovations, technical and supervisory capabilities and operating procedures to successfully and efficiently execute projects and consulting services resulting in client satisfaction and on-time delivery.
Your Key Responsibilities
• Evaluates, selects, specifies, and engineers all electrical engineered systems or products for a project.
• Engages in the development of a design through drawings, sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
• Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
• Develop staff skills by providing guidance and mentoring to strengthen technical abilities
• Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of discipline staff.
• Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the Industrial Buildings electrical group.
• Prepare proposals and engineering estimates.
• Control design budgets and cost control monitoring.
• Coordinate staff utilization, forecasting, availability and resourcing within the team across both offices, requesting assistance from Leadership as appropriate.
• Follow and enforce Stantec Buildings project management procedures across the discipline including completion of the Project Requirements Checklist, PML work plan, and Pipeline entry for all new proposals.
• Coordinate appropriate level of support for hard backlog and Business Development (BD) opportunities with management.
• Support team and inter-Business Center (BC) integration including communicating BD opportunities appropriate disciplines.
• Track hard and soft backlog.
• Work with team to address personnel or project issues as they arise.
• Provide management to direct reports and support the overall team, including recruiting new hires and building a functional team.
• Assist to achieve key financial targets (e.g., team utilization, WIP/AR management).
• Assist to meet or exceed budgeted net revenue targets for the BC.
• Assist with staff integration between disciplines and regions.
• Assist with implementation and compliance to HSE policy.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
• Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of the electrical codes, energy codes, ASHRAE standards, and other building codes.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
• Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production.
• Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.
• Participates and collaborates in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
• Knowledge of and experience with high performance and sustainable building practices
• Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving problems
• Thorough understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others.
• Strong presentation and interview skills.
• Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD; Prefer experience with ETAP, AGI32
• Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills.
• Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills.
• Security clearance eligibility is a must for this position. Candidate must be open to a security clearance check and must have 10 years traceable residency in Canada.
Education and Experience
A minimum of 8 years of related engineering experience in the design of systems for industrial, commercial institutional, healthcare or commercial clients.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering & Licensed Professional Engineer. LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred

Pay Range:
• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$94,600.00 - $137,100.00 Annually
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
