On-Call Senior Ecologist

Stantec is seeking an on-call Senior Ecologist recognized for technical excellence. Qualified candidates will be expected to provide technical expertise and lead a field crew for habitat assessments and species surveys for the Cow Know salamander and Shenandoah salamander and assist with reporting and regulatory consultation. This candidate will also provide technical expertise to our clients and staff that includes accomplished biologists, ecologists, water resource specialists and engineers.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Focus on health and safety
Design and implementation of surveys and habitat evaluations for the Cow Knob salamander and Shenandoah salamander
Coordination with VDWR, USFS and USFWS
Species survey reporting
Your Capabilities and Credentials
BS in natural resources related field (advanced degree preferred)
15+ years of related experience
Proficient with habitat assessments and presence/absence surveys for the Cow Knob salamander and Shenandoah salamander
Must have be able to obtain appropriate threatened and endangered species permits to conduct surveys for the aforementioned salamanders
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work well with internal staff
Comfortable using computers, tablets and hand-held GPS units or other similar GPS based survey equipment
Desired Capabilities and Credentials:
Development of biological assessments and/or biological evaluations
Development of habitat conservation plans

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
