In our multidisciplinary, team-based environment, collaboration is key among a talented group of architects, engineers, interior designers, and project managers, who work together to create innovative and integrated solutions for a wide range of clients.

The primary role of the Senior Interior Designer is to interpret and translate the needs and desires of a client as well as any architectural direction set forth into cohesive interior design solution as well as lead and mentor others. The role will provide a great career opportunity for an ambitious leader ready to work with a team of energized and talented staff from diverse backgrounds and with an established client network. This process will involve production and leading production of drawings (2D/3D), and written material to support the conceptual direction of interior design and FFE. This individual will be required to present their ideas in formal and informal settings with a willingness and desire to hear and respond to constructive feedback. An individual at this level in their career is expected to perform their role within the standard of care acceptable to their peers in the industry. A Senior Interior Designer is expected to work collaboratively with the team, conceptualizing, developing, and documenting varying aspects of interior design of a project, including but not limited to space planning, interior architecture, interior materials and palette, specifications and FFE.

  • Provide design direction and provide mentorship of the team.

  • Collaborate with sector leads to deliver truly integrated project solutions and strengthen/broaden the interiors team experience base.

  • Liaise with Stantec Interior Design Groups across region/sector and opportunities.

  • Participate in strategic business development for the Interior group.

  • Contribute towards the development of goals, strategies, and client focused culture of the practice. Qualifications - External

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • To lead in creative and critical thought.

  • To communicate abstract ideas (verbal/written) as well as coach staff to reach this level.

  • Ability to lead/direct space planning, block planning and adjacencies in coordination with design program.

  • Ability to hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively. To lead a team and collaborate in project team setting. To engage and lead in creative and critical thought. To interpret sketches, drawings, program and other similar material. To communicate abstract ideas (verbal/written/graphic).

  • Advanced experience in Revit and the use of it as a design tool.

  • Experience with the most recent design software (Sketch-up, Rhino, Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, etc.) is preferred.

  • Advanced understanding of lighting/fixtures.

  • Advanced understanding of FFE and specifications.

  • Advanced understanding of client's expectations of deliverables at different phases of projects including construction documents.

  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite; prefer experience with Newforma.

Design Excellence

  • Has an exceptional resume of work.

  • Lead the interiors team with individual responsibilities in projects.

  • Inspire creativity, critical thought, and design excellence both internally and externally.

  • Lead the project teams in setting the visionary goals for design.

  • Deliver creative, high quality, fiscally responsible project solutions based on best practices and meeting client goals.

  • Support the strategic direction and actively manage the performance for work produced by team members and contributors to ensure successful business outcomes. Provide inspirational and inclusive design project leadership, contribute to workplace culture.

Business Development / External

  • Act as company representative at client and industry functions, conferences, and seminars.

  • Support achieving annual sales & revenue targets for your area of practice, through client management, market development, pursuit strategies, and/or technical expertise. Strong industry connections including potential clients, colleagues, consultants, and strategic partners.

  • Build relationships with existing and new clients, demonstrating an entrepreneurial spirit in managing their business.

  • Develop relationships with clients and industry leaders.

  • Active member in local or national industry associations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Interior Design or related field is required.

  • Licensed Interior Designer is preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience.

  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP is preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:

• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas-$86,800.00 - $130,200.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
