Your Opportunity
Stantec's multi-disciplinary office on 5th Avenue in NYC has an opportunity for a highly motivated Transportation Engineering Intern/Co-op. This paid internship/co-op position offers full-time or part-time hours during Fall/Winter 2026.
We believe that training, collaboration, and connections are enhanced through in-person interactions with team members. Consequently, this role is predominantly office-based, with minimal remote work expected, if any.
Your Key Responsibilities
Assist with transportation impact studies, traffic data collection and analysis, report preparation, and other technical assignments.
Gather traffic data from publicly available sources and through field visits.
Analyze traffic data utilizing Microsoft Excel, Python, MySQL, etc.
Conduct traffic analyses using HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and Cube.
Provide support to our roadway design and traffic engineering teams.
Perform additional duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Interested in transportation planning and engineering
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Detail-oriented
Effective team player in fast-paced environments
Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and visual communication
Familiar with Python, C++, or Java; further programming experience preferred
Education and Experience
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, City and Regional Planning, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
Position will primarily be in an office setting; may require some field work to collect data. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:
• $23.47 - $34.50 Hourly
