Your Opportunity
Imagine being part of a dynamic team that designs innovative solutions for our diverse set of clients. The Engineering Intern / Coop (Roadways\Bridges) will work under close supervision of a Senior Engineer, Senior Site Inspector or Contract Administrator to develop engineering designs and \ or undertake construction inspection for various types of private and public roadway projects. The ideal candidate has the ability to solve problems using sound professional judgement, creativity, and innovation including effective coordination of internal and external constituents, demonstrated experience on various planning and engineering projects, effective meeting facilitation skills and strong knowledge of regulatory requirements.
As a Engineering Intern / Coop (Roadways\Bridges) in our Ottawa Transportation Group, you will be involved in the planning and design of transportation projects for public and private sector clients, including City of Ottawa, MTO and local municipalities. You will be responsible for assisting project managers and project engineers in the following areas:
Your Key Responsibilities
Working as part of a dynamic team on various support activities
Working in support of road\bridge reconstruction, utility and/or environmental assessment projects.
Performing office work with potential of field visits.
Other duties as assigned, providing general assistance to project engineers and project managers in Stantec’s Transportation group.
Work under the direction of the Project Manager, Senior Engineer, Senior Site Inspector or Contract Administrator
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Working knowledge of relevant roadway and highway design guides, such as the TAC Geometric Design Guide, and the MTO Design Supplement for TAC Geometric Design Guide and Roadside Design Manual
Familiarity with highway and roadway design related software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InRoads and MicroStation
Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Field experience an asset (survey, inspection)
Similar summer work-term or co-op experience would be considered as a definite asset for this position
Valid driver license and vehicle is an asset for this position.
Education and Experience
This position is intended for a recent or undergraduate students of a Civil Engineering program with an emphasis on Transportation Engineering.
Typical office environment working with computers. Some travel may be required, such as delivering plans or documents to reviewing agencies or clients or to attend meetings or to undertake inspections. May occasionally visit study areas, construction sites and/or be exposed to outside elements and inclement weather conditions. Candidate will likely spend time both in the office working on design projects as undertaking construction inspection for contract projects.

Pay Range:
• $23.37 - $32.07 Hourly
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
