Hydrology and Hydraulics Engineer

Your responsabilities

Under the mentorship of a Senior Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting hydrological studies, including watershed analyses, hydrological modeling, hydro climatological statistical analyses, climate change impact assessments, and flood risk, impact, and adaptation evaluations;

  • Designing hydraulic infrastructure such as dikes and dams, spillways, overflow structures, water intakes, ditches or channels, culverts, retention and detention basins, and pumping stations;

  • Performing or overseeing one‑dimensional, two‑dimensional, and three‑dimensional hydraulic simulations using industry‑standard software;

  • Preparing hydrological water balances and mass balance studies;

  • Assessing hydrological conditions related to water quality, treatment, and environmental monitoring;

  • Designing, installing, and instrumenting monitoring and measurement stations;

  • Contributing to the design and sizing of water treatment systems;

  • Conducting risk analyses and dam safety studies;

  • Contributing to design reviews, the preparation of plans and specifications, proposals, and permit and authorization applications submitted to government authorities.

Your background

  • Hold a university degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) with a specialization in hydrology, hydraulics, or a related field;

  • Have 5 to 15 years of experience as an engineer or hydrology/hydraulics specialist;

  • Be member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).

Technical experience

  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of analytical methods and modeling tools in the fields of hydrology, hydraulics, and water resources management;

  • General knowledge of water treatment;

  • Previous experience in the mining sector;

  • Basic knowledge of instrumentation and hydrometry.

Your key to success

  • Knowledge of the laws, regulations, and standards governing water management, specifically in Québec and Canada in general (an asset);

  • Knowledge of computer programming and artificial intelligence integration (an asset);

  • Up-to-date knowledge of new technologies applied to the water sector (an asset);

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams;

  • Demonstrated adaptability and autonomy.
