Stantec’s Environmental Services Practice is seeking an Intermediate Acoustical Engineer/Specialist to join our Acoustic, Noise and Vibration team in Mississauga, Ontario. Our team provides specialized acoustics, noise, and vibration services across a wide range of sectors, including transportation, infrastructure, industry, government, and the built environment. Our practitioners deliver a full suite of services, including environmental assessments, permitting support, baseline monitoring, predictive modelling, technical studies, mitigation design, compliance support, and policy/planning assignments.
Your Key Responsibilities
Conduct field investigations, sound and vibration measurements, and related data collection programs in support of environmental and transportation noise studies
Complete technical analysis, predictive modelling, interpretation, and post-processing of acoustic and vibration data with limited supervision
Prepare technical reports, memoranda, figures, and supporting documentation for a range of environmental noise and vibration assignments
Support and coordinate project delivery with multidisciplinary internal teams and external clients, agencies, and stakeholders
Contribute to transportation and environmental noise studies for projects involving road, rail, transit, industrial, and municipal infrastructure
Assist with proposal preparation, scope development, budgeting, and project planning for small to medium-sized assignments
Support senior staff with peer review, quality control, and technical checking of deliverables
Contribute to the development, improvement, and standardization of field, analysis, and reporting methods
Mentor junior staff in field measurement practices, data handling, and technical documentation
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Demonstrated experience in environmental and transportation noise assessment, including field measurements, data analysis, and technical reporting
Working knowledge of applicable Ontario and Canadian noise and vibration guidance, standards, and best practices
Experience with sound and vibration measurement instrumentation and analysis software
Experience with acoustic and/or transportation noise modelling software such as CADNA/A, TNM, STAMSON, Stamina, or similar tools
Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise, and defensible reports
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with a moderate level of independence
Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate professionally with clients, regulators, and project stakeholders
Proficiency in standard business and technical software, including Microsoft Office; familiarity with CAD/GIS tools is an asset
Detail-oriented, practical, and motivated to continue developing technical and project delivery skills
Flexibility in scheduling and willingness to travel for field work and site visits
A valid driver’s license is required
Education and Experience
Undergraduate degree in Engineering from an accredited university; graduate degree in acoustics, noise, vibration, or a related field is an asset
4 to 6 years of relevant experience in environmental acoustics, transportation noise, vibration, or a related discipline
Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, or eligible for registration, is preferred
Typical office environment involves working with computers and remaining sedentary for extended periods. Field work may include travel to project sites and exposure to varying weather and site conditions.

Pay Range:
• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$78,900.00 - $114,400.00 Annually
