  • Salary range for this role is between $115,000 - $125,000

Role description:

To provide civil engineering technical expertise and knowledge to contribute to the successful delivery of tender/contract documentation, procurement/tendering, construction contract management, and monitoring, surveillance and quality assurance (MSQA) activities for our client’s capital, low risk - low cost, minor improvement and multi-modal projects.

About the role

  • Preparation of cost estimates for construction including risk assessments to support contingency allowances.

  • Support and as appropriate participate in the preparation of tender documents and the evaluation of tenders.

  • Liaise with external and government authorities, community groups, agencies and appropriate technical, operational and project staff to ensure the impact of works is minimised.

  • Act in the role of Engineer’s Representative or Engineer’s Representative Assistant in the administration and surveillance of projects, in accordance with appropriate standards and procedures including Client contract management requirements.

  • Provide guidance, direction and support to junior team members and Engineer’s Representative’s Assistants to develop their skills and experience in contract management.

  • Ensure meetings are managed and documented with actions assigned.

  • Financial tracking, forecasting, reporting and management of construction projects.

  • Comprehensive documentation and record management in accordance with project plans and client requirements.

  • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with local contractors, clients and team members.

  • Client facing and go-to person on construction projects with client political and technical team interface (Councillors and Asset Managers).

  • Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures.

  • Undertake miscellaneous tasks and projects assigned to you from time to time by Management.

Qualifications

About you:

  • Relevant technical tertiary qualification.

  • At least 10 years’ relevant professional experience, with 2 or more years in New Zealand

  • The ability to manage and deliver civil construction projects

  • Excellent cost estimating, tender preparation and commercial report writing skills.

  • Will have clear and consistent communication to build trust and provide support to peers and clients

  • Management of sub-contractors, site supervisors and suppliers.

  • Ideally experience some experience of recent Hawkes' Bay Cyclone Gabrielle recovery projects.

  • Have a strong interest in professional development and building a challenging career in transport engineering.
