Role Summary/Purpose:

The VP, Senior Data Platform Engineering Manager will develop and oversee delivery of data platform strategy and roadmaps for Synchrony’s Data & Analytic platforms and drive our Cloud Data migration journey. They will be both a strategist and an executor. They will build and lead an inclusive team of product engineers who are focused on delivering resilient platforms that enable data & analytics delivery excellence. They will partner with other product managers and functional stakeholders to identify innovative solutions, leverage AI where possible, resolve platform risks, and deliver platform life-cycle outcomes.

The VP, Senior Data Platform Engineering Manager will also lead our cloud data migration initiative, partnering with business and technology stakeholders to plan, execute, and govern the end-to-end migration of data assets, data platforms, pipelines, and workloads to the target cloud environment. They will own the migration roadmap, risks/dependencies, and partner on cutover strategy, and data quality/security controls to ensure minimal disruption and compliance. Drive cross-functional delivery (architecture, engineering, security, governance and operations), tracking progress to timelines, budget, and measurable outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated people leadership experience, demonstrated cloud data migration experience, drive AI adoption & usage, and an established track record of partnering across business and technology stakeholders to identify and guide the delivery of agile, cost-effective, and high-performing enterprise data & analytic platforms.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Define and deliver the data/analytics platform product strategy, roadmap, and release plans by translating business needs into clear product and technical requirements.
  • Build strong stakeholder partnerships to understand strategic imperatives, prioritize initiatives, and drive platform optimization and lifecycle management using Scaled Agile practices.
  • Continuously monitor platform performance and reliability, championing enhancements that improve scalability, resilience, and user outcomes.
  • Lead the cloud data migration end-to-end, including strategy, roadmap, scope/timeline/budget, governance, dependency management, and execution through cutover.
  • Ensure data quality and operational readiness through validation, reconciliation, performance testing, and security/compliance controls before and after migration.
  • Proactively manage risks, issues, and blockers; provide clear status reporting and escalation to senior leadership.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of product engineers through coaching, mentoring, and career development to deliver on the roadmap.
  • Own product financials and vendor management, including ROI-based investment decisions and contract negotiation/renewals, while ensuring adherence to enterprise standards (architecture, security, compliance).
  • Stay current on business, market, and technology trends to recommend innovative platform solutions & improvements and leverage AI solutions.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 8 years of IT experience OR in lieu of a Degree, High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 10 years of experience in an IT environment
  • 6+ years of product management or related experience
  • Background delivering infrastructure for data & analytic solutions is preferred
  • Cloud Data Migration experience is preferred.
  • Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required

Grade/Level: 14

The salary range for this position is 170,000.00 - 290,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

You will be required to commute to your nearest Hub (either virtual or physical) for in-person engagement activities such as regular business or team meetings, training and culture events.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
