Organizational Overview:

Controllership organization within Finance COE responsible to monitor day-to-day accounting activities involved in Synchrony business. Controllership mostly covers General accounting, Client accounting, Reconciliations, Closing & Reporting, System maintenance, Governance related sub-processes. Every process contributes to quarterly & annual financial close process and ensure that we have accurate external reporting.

Role Summary/Purpose :

The responsibilities will include daily balancing; and weekly, monthly, and quarterly reconciliations. The role will also be involved in completing various accounting related tasks including various month end close activities and recording manual journal entries (MJE). In this role, you will gain accounting, quarter close management, and reporting Finance experiences, as well as influence in a matrix environment Leadership experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Monthly end close activities

  • Performing various daily, monthly and quarterly accounting processes including manual journal entries to clear suspense items
  • Performing close activities including checklist, validation reports, Blackline reconciliations, and other administrative items.
  • Preparing manual journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with MJE procedure
  • Other duties as assigned

Reconciliations

  • Preparation of various reconciliations on a daily, monthly and quarterly basis
  • Clearing of rec items discovered during reconciliation process
  • Participate in weekly & monthly dashboard calls with the General Accounting Team in the U.S.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with Minimum of 2+ years prior accounting/finance experience or in lieu of a degree Minimum of 4+ years prior accounting/finance experience
  • Controllership experience in a large organization or public accounting
  • Experience in financial services industry
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Oracle GL, Oracle Hyperion product suite and Blackline
  • Personal Computer proficiency (software: MS Office preferred)
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
  • Excellent communication skills – both oral and written.
  • Should be at least Strong Contributor or Critical Talent in the last performance appraisal

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • Advanced MS-Excel Skills
  • Demonstrated team player with collaborative, facilitation and influencing skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Strong analytical and data manipulation skills

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with Minimum of 2+ years prior accounting/finance experience or in lieu of a degree Minimum of 4+ years prior accounting/finance experience

Work Timing: 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM IST

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs)
