About Team: Our mission is two-fold: we protect the hundreds of thousands of Target endpoints (such as user laptops, in store devices, distribution center technology, servers and containers) from cyber threats while balancing the stability and functionality needs of Target’s technology environment. To do this, we use a combination of vendor tools, in-house developed utilities and strong organizational partnerships to achieve shared goals.

The Endpoint Security team is looking for a motivated Senior Engineer to join us in developing the tools that keep Target’s endpoints secure. As a member of this high performing team, you’ll use DevOps delivery methods, GenAI, and software development to improve the security of our endpoints. Our team is focused on innovation, fast problem-solving and a culture of inclusion.

As a Senior Engineer on Target’s Endpoint Security team, you will:

• Develop and enhance applications used to keep our endpoints secure

• Use Java, Springboot, JavaScript, and PostgreSQL to build robust, well-tested, and scalable systems

• Use GenAI to improve the efficiency of design, architecture, software development, and day to day tasks

• Efficiently design and implement software with AI code agents and assistants

• Lead the implementation of industry standard software applications

• Support and maintain products to secure hundreds of thousands of endpoints

• Research and improve upon industry best practices

• Work closely with partner teams

• Mentor engineers and improve engineering practices

About you:

• BS Degree in computer science or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of software development experience
• Hands-on experience in one of the following programing languages/frameworks: Java, Springboot, Kotlin
• Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases

• Leads as an AI Developer persona – using GenAI to build AI agents and enhance products

• Designs new testing methods and resolves routine and non-routine technical issues with minimal assistance
• Collaborative mindset centered on team goals

• Builds strong commitment within the team to support the appropriate team priorities

• Clearly communicates value delivery to leadership

• Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and sense of ownership
• Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Interest or background in security helpful, but not a requirement
