Use your skills, experience and talents to successfully operate our Item Data Compliance program within Target’s Enterprise Item Governance organization. This program is responsible for ensuring item data critical for operations and the guest experience is accurate and trustworthy.

As an Item Data Compliance Sr. Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate, compliant item data across the enterprise by leading audit execution, dispute resolution, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role partners cross-functionally to identify risks, improve compliance processes, and scale program effectiveness through data-driven insights, training, and automation:

  • Lead execution of scheduled audits aligned to compliance strategy, priority events, and business impact.

  • Perform pre-audit analysis using inventory, sales, and validation history to determine audit scope and prioritization.

  • Conduct quality reviews of auditor and contractor work; provide corrective guidance to ensure consistent, high-quality outcomes.

  • Monitor pre- and post-audit metrics including coverage, defect rates, pass rates, and cycle time.

  • Serve as second-level escalation point for business partner violation disputes, providing final approve/deny decisions.

  • Identify systemic compliance risks and gaps; recommend and influence policy, process, or control improvements.

  • Partner closely with the Item Data Compliance Program Manager to assess risk, define corrective actions, and evolve program strategy.

  • Own daily and weekly monitoring of KPIs including audit throughput, accuracy, defect trends, fees, and cycle time.

  • Analyze program data to identify trends across attributes, vendors, divisions, and item types.

  • Develop and maintain compliance dashboards/reporting available to stakeholders.

  • Create and maintain business partner-facing training documentation.

  • Design and deliver quarterly instructor-led training sessions for business partners.

  • Support onboarding of new contractors (system access, equipment coordination, and training).

  • Provide second-level support for contractor process questions and validation issues.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline compliance operations and reduce manual effort.

  • Pilot and evaluate new capabilities such as automation and advanced validation tools.

  • Conduct ongoing performance reviews and present findings and recommendations to leadership.

  • Contribute to expanding the scope and impact of the Item Data Compliance program through scalable solutions.

About You:

  • College degree or equivalent work experience

  • Experience in data quality, compliance, audit operations, or governance roles

  • Strong understanding of data governance and compliance principles and industry best practices

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret trends and drive action

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven ability to operate independently, manage ambiguity, and prioritize effectively

  • Ability to train new concepts, processes, requirements, and expectations

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
