As a Director, Inventory Management, you are responsible for leading a team of Senior Analysts and Inventory Analysts to drive division & pyramid level sales and profit through championing operational efficiency, guest reliability and creating and implementing inventory management strategies. You will lead the successful translation of division financial goals by developing, executing, and communicating operational targets for optimal inventory levels by business and developing inventory strategies to support those goals. You will be an influential leader within the division, skilled in managing upward to leaders at both the division and pyramid level and be a key partner to both Merchandising and PIM leaders in developing full product life cycle strategies. You will manage the open-to-buy for your division by recommending receipts and flow timing, as well as be a key partner to Supply Chain teams to control work flow, capacity, and prioritization, so a strong passion for process and tools improvement is desired. You will be the voice of the business in multiple system implementations to support Target’s growth and exceeding guests’ expectations. You will engage with cross functional teams across the enterprise and external vendor partners to balance financial and guest-facing goals through partnerships and collaboration.
In addition to driving guest reliability and inventory efficiency results at a divisional level, you will also have additional pyramid level responsibilities including, but not limited to, collaborating on pyramid talent management routines, hiring, and onboarding; championing financial discipline and routines across the PIM organization, leading and influencing modernization and organizational transformation strategies; being an influential leader within PIM and driving broader PIM strategies. You will be responsible for building a high performing, collaborative team. You will help teams navigate career and skills development to ensure job satisfaction, retention, and career progression, while supporting a culture where innovation and belonging are embraced by all team members.

About you:

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in Inventory Management, Merchandising, Planning, Retail Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Experience managing and leading teams. Developing talent, setting a strategic vision, prioritizing, building culture, and maintaining controllership on execution.
  • Knowledge of supply chain and inventory management fundamentals, systems, and practical applications.
  • Strong Communication with strong storytelling abilities.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to manage risk.
  • High degree of analytical and problem-solving skills, deriving actionable insights and forward-thinking recommendations.
  • Ability to adopt an enterprise mindset that understands impact of business decisions and partner organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and managing relationships across the enterprise.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a rapidly changing work and industry environment and manage complex priorities and situations with degrees of variation and uncertainty.
  • Ability to tie back to goals and objectives, review competing deliverables and prioritize accordingly.

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
