Sr Logistics Analyst, Food First Mile Transportation
As a Sr Logistics Analyst on the Food First Mile Transportation Team, you’ll focus on the efficient and reliable transportation of products from vendors into Target’s food distribution network. You’ll establish and develop great relationships with external carrier partners and across the supply chain. Here, you’ll be challenged to pivot from weekly performance management to working on continuous improvement projects to achieve the transformative goals we have in front of us. You will have the opportunity to shape our carrier network and collaborate with a variety of partners to maximize reliability and efficiency.
This role combines analytical problem solving, program management, and relationship management. You'll partner with Transportation, Inventory Management, Distribution, Merchandising, Technology, Finance, and external carrier partners to develop scalable solutions that improve service, reduce costs, and enhance network reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Transportation Strategy & Analytics
- Analyze transportation network performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop reporting, dashboards, and actionable insights that influence operational and strategic business decisions.
- Evaluate carrier performance using key performance indicators and recommend opportunities to improve service, cost, and reliability.
- Translate complex data into clear business recommendations and communicate insights to leaders and cross-functional partners.
Program & Process Management
- Lead transportation initiatives from planning through implementation while ensuring successful execution.
- Identify and implement process improvements that simplify operations and improve network performance.
- Support new transportation capabilities, operational pilots, and enterprise initiatives that enhance First Mile operations.
- Establish sustainable operating routines that improve visibility, accountability, and execution.
Partnership & Influence
- Divisional management ownership, partnership with inventory management and vendor teams
- Build trusted relationships with carriers, third-party logistics providers, and internal business partners.
- Partner across Transportation, Supply Chain, and Merchandising to solve complex operational challenges.
- Influence cross-functional teams through data, thoughtful recommendations, and effective communication.
- Serve as a trusted resource for transportation operations by proactively identifying risks and recommending solutions.
Operational Excellence
- Monitor key transportation metrics and respond quickly to operational disruptions and high-impact events.
- Drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis, corrective actions, and standardized processes.
- Champion innovative solutions that improve the efficiency, scalability, and resiliency of Target's inbound transportation network.
- Support business continuity efforts while maintaining a strong focus on guest impact and operational performance.

Required Qualifications
- Four-year degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Economics, Engineering, Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience using data and analytics to solve complex business problems and influence decision making.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing cross-functional initiatives and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences.
- Proven ability to prioritize competing priorities, navigate ambiguity, and deliver results with minimal direction.
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, retail operations, or carrier management.
- Experience working with transportation providers or third-party logistics partners.
- Experience in executing in a temperature controlled supply chain operations.
- Experience developing business cases, forecasts, or operational performance reporting.
- Experience across the Target Food Supply Chain
This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
