The Communications Manager, BPX is responsible for planning, developing, and delivering external communications that keep Target's business partners informed, engaged, and prepared to do business with Target. This role sits within Target’s Business Partner Experience (BPX) team.
In this role, you'll collaborate with the BPX Communication & Engagement Director, peers across the BPX team, and cross-functional partners to develop clear, concise, and actionable communications that help Target's business partners stay informed and successfully do business with Target. As a trusted communications partner, you'll consult with stakeholders on messaging, audience, timing, and communication channels while ensuring every communication reflects Target's voice, brand, and editorial standards.
You'll lead the day-to-day execution of business partner communications, including publishing the Business Partner newsletter, developing and delivering ad hoc communications, and maintaining the Business Partner Experience (BPX) editorial calendar and shared inbox. As Target continues to modernize its communications practices, you'll also help evolve editorial workflows by leveraging AI-assisted tools and scalable processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and the overall quality of business partner communications.
About the Team
The BPX Communication & Engagement Team partners with stakeholders across the enterprise to develop, manage, and deliver content and communications that support every aspect of the business partner experience. From publishing operational content on Partners Online (POL)—Target's digital portal for business partners—to leading the Business Partner newsletter and enterprise-wide business partner communications, the team ensures information is clear, timely, accessible, and actionable.
Through editorial planning, communication standards, and scalable, AI-enabled practices, the team continuously improves how content and communications are created and delivered, helping business partners quickly access the information they need to successfully do business with Target.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the execution of business partner communications, including the routine newsletter and ad hoc communications that inform and engage Target's external business partners.
Partner with internal business teams to gather intake, develop communications, manage reviews, and deliver timely, accurate communications that align with Target's voice, brand, and editorial standards.
Manage the Business Partner Experience (BPX) communications workflow, including the team editorial calendar, communications request intake and tracking, shared team inbox, and publication through EmailOpen.
Build strong cross-functional partnerships with Product, Operations, Legal, Public Relations, Owned Brands Communications, and other business teams to ensure communications are accurate, compliant, and delivered to the appropriate audience.
Provide communications guidance by recommending the appropriate messaging, audience, timing, and communication channel to support business objectives while creating a consistent experience for business partners.
Continuously improve communications processes by leveraging AI-assisted tools, standardized editorial practices, and communication metrics to enhance quality, efficiency, and consistency.
Activate communication measurement techniques, tracking and reporting against KPIs
Support communications planning and execution for key initiatives, including the annual Business Partner Summit and other enterprise events.
Support timing and action and quality and timeliness of all deliverables.

Qualifications
Required
5–8 years of experience in corporate communications, external communications, public relations, journalism, content marketing, or a related field.
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Demonstrated ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships and influence stakeholders.
Experience developing executive-level and external-facing communications.
Experience managing multiple communications projects simultaneously.
Experience using EmailOpen or similar enterprise email communications platforms.
A creative mind, with a practical outlook and unwavering ability to go with the flow.
Preferred
Experience supporting change management or organizational communications initiatives.
Experience managing external communications for large organizations.
Experience partnering with Legal, Public Relations, Brand, or Corporate Communications teams.
Experience evaluating communications risk and recommending mitigation strategies.
Experience managing editorial calendars, communications planning, and communications governance.
Experience leveraging AI-assisted communications tools to improve efficiency and consistency.
This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
