JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a seasoned, motivated communications leader to develop and execute on strategic Group Head communications, driving a thoughtful and compelling plan for the Head of Canadian Business Banking that will advance the Business Bank's narrative in a differentiated way.
The successful candidate will bring a diverse skill set, combining strategic internal and external communications expertise with excellent writing capabilities, and experience as a trusted advisor to senior executives. The senior manager will demonstrate keen attention to detail, an in-depth knowledge of media and issues management, the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders, and have experience navigating a large organization.
The successful candidate will:
Lead strategic internal and external communications planning and execution for the Group Head of Canadian Business Banking.
Act as a senior relationship manager and strategic comms advisor at executive tables. Exercise judgment in dealing with sensitive reputational issues and provide counsel to executives.
Collaborate closely with partners and stakeholders to shape engagement opportunities for the Group Head; research and develop briefing documents.
Demonstrate strong media relations skills, with experience in issues and crisis management, positive proactive storytelling and working with journalists.
Manage complex issues and changes within Business Banking, both internal and external.
Partner effectively with colleagues and business partners to understand the Bank's priorities and how they should inform the Group Head's message and engagements.
Develop engaging speeches, articles and thought leadership pieces that express the voice of the Group Head in ways that enhance TD's brand, reputation, and narrative.
Be opportunistic and proactive around topics and themes the Group Head should offer a perspective on, with proven experience developing ideas into impactful strategies.
Manage a team focused on helping to shape and elevate the Group Head's narrative in ways that reaffirm the Business Bank's differentiated culture, instill confidence in our strategy, and position TD as a leader on issues that matter to our customers, colleagues and communities.
Some evenings/weekends and travel within Canada will be required.
Desired qualifications and skills:
10-12 years of experience in communications or related field, with background working in a corporate communications environment.
Exceptional writing skills, with a passion for creating content that conveys a clear and relevant message and that effectively capture tone and voice.
Ability to develop and implement interesting and innovative business line and executive communications plans, with a point of view on how to leverage the voice of the Group Head to drive business objectives.
Strong interest in world news and broader issues and trends, combined with understanding of the financial services sector, Business Banking and/or B2B industries and the ability to apply to the Group Head's communication strategy.
Experience developing, managing, and evaluating the effectiveness of internal/ external communication vehicles and delivery channels that support strategy.
Ability to prepare and manage communication budgets for project within the agreed upon parameters.
