Global Operations & Business Services Overview:
With over 800+ professionals located in offices around the world, Global Operations & Business Services provide critical infrastructure services to support and control the trading, investment, corporate and Retail banking functions of TD Securities. We operate as “One Team” leveraging our global footprint to support our clients with Trades and Payment products. Global Payments & Deposit Operations Overview:
Global Payments & Deposit Operations (GPDO) is a rapidly evolving and dynamic place to work for highly motivated professionals looking to make an impact. We are looking for individuals who will help us shape the Future of Payments and continue to build TD's presence and influence within the industry. Our team handles over $250 Billion CAD worth of payments daily and process approximately 9 million transactions annually. The Operations team is in North America, Singapore and India, and is a fast-paced multifaceted team operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week providing exceptional service to the Bank's Internal Partners, Corporate clients, as well as other Global Financial Institutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the SWIFT and Wire Payments Operations team in processing high-value domestic and cross-border payments, including real-time gross settlement (RTGS) via Lynx.
- Develop and execute strategies to optimize operational efficiency, resiliency, and scalability in alignment with enterprise goals.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on high-value payment systems and advocate for best practices in global payments operations.
- Operations & Execution
- Oversee day-to-day operations of wire payments including SWIFT MT/MX messaging, payment investigations, and settlements.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments in accordance with SLA, regulatory, and compliance standards.
- Manage exception handling, payment repair, and reconciliation processes with a focus on automation and controls.
- Risk & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Payments Canada rules, SWIFT standards, and relevant global regulatory requirements (e.g., AML, sanctions screening).
- Lead risk assessments and maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness.
- Collaborate with Technology, Risk, and Compliance to implement and maintain payment fraud monitoring and cybersecurity safeguards.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders including Technology, Treasury, Global Transaction Banking, Canadian Personal Banking, Business Banking, Wealth, TD Securities, TD America's Most Convenient Bank, SWIFT, and Payments Canada.
- Represent the bank in industry working groups related to payment modernization, ISO 20022 migration, and Lynx system enhancements.
- Transformation & Change
- Lead or support enterprise projects such as ISO 20022 adoption, digital payment initiatives, and operational resiliency programs.
- Champion continuous improvement and lean process reengineering within the payment's environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, or related discipline; MBA or equivalent an asset.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in financial services operations, with a strong focus on SWIFT and wire payments.
- In-depth knowledge of SWIFT FIN/ISO 15022 and emerging ISO 20022 messaging standards.
- Experience with Payments Canada’s Lynx system and understanding of the Canadian clearing and settlement ecosystem.
- Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in payments, including sanctions, AML, and payment screening processes.
- Proven leadership and team management experience; ability to inspire, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in a G-SIB or large Canadian financial institution.
- Participation in industry modernization initiatives (e.g., ISO 20022, Open Banking, RTP) is considered an asset.
- Bilingual (English/French) considered an asset.
