Reporting to the AVP, ESG Financial Reporting, this role has primary responsibility for the drafting updates to accounting and financial disclosure policies for ESG-related matters. They will work closely with Sustainability & Corporate Citizen (SCC), Environment Social Risk Management, (ESRM) and different lines of businesses in the execution of TD's ESG Disclosure Strategy in accordance with our target operating model related to financial reporting and regulatory requirements.

The primary accountabilities of the Manager include:

  • Support advocacy efforts on the evolving regulatory frameworks for sustainability-related risk management and disclosures which impact financial reporting.

  • Ensure the Chief Accountant executives are informed of key sustainability-related disclosure developments.

  • Understand the Bank's current sustainability disclosure practices and recommend changes required to enhance process controls and governance.

  • Review the Bank’s Annual Sustainability Report for alignment with regulatory expectations, industry best practices and connectivity with financial reporting.

  • Review/ support any pre-mail documents for any governance committee meetings (Bank’s Disclosure Committee / Enterprise Sustainability Management Committee)

  • Participation in various internal Regulatory Working Groups with Enterprise Risk Management, Sustainability and Legal partners

  • Support other regulatory reporting efforts, such as G-SIB reporting and subsidiary governance reporting.

  • Support other finance and accounting project initiatives in the Chief Accountants' department.


Department Overview:

The Chief Accountant’s Department of TD Bank Group (the “Bank”) is responsible for ensuring that the Bank’s consolidated shareholder reports are prepared in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and regulatory (OSC and SEC) requirements. This involves providing financial accounting and regulatory advisory support to the Business units and Corporate areas on emerging and existing complex accounting and regulatory issues. This includes the development and maintenance of strong working relationships with various internal stakeholders within the Bank to deliver consolidated shareholder reports and regulatory filings.

The Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) Financial Reporting team plays an important strategic role for the Bank’s current ESG disclosures to meet OSFI's regulatory expectations through guideline B-15 and other stakeholders expectations. This includes ongoing industry advocacy with regulators and participation in industry roundtables discussions.

Job Requirements:

  • Experienced Manager with demonstrated success in financial or risk reporting for the Bank, including related accounting policies and controls implementations.

  • Ability to connect regulatory and policy requirements with underlying data and process to recommend automated solutions.

  • Demonstrated strong analytical capabilities and ability to communicate complex issues in an understandable and concise manner.

  • Demonstrated organizational awareness and the ability to manage strong relationships within and across multiple businesses and technology groups.

  • Experience and capability using AI tools such as CoPilot to gather business intelligence and insights; as well as for automation and processing preferred

Specific Educational and Professional Experience Requirements:

  • University degree with CPA accounting designation with previous experiences in accounting policies

  • Comfortable in a time-sensitive, team-based environment

  • Demonstrated track record of implementing new regulatory standards reporting

  • Sustainability knowledge and/or qualifications preferred
