Job Description:

The Senior Market Risk Analyst within the FRTB team supports the Bank’s market risk appetite and regulatory capital framework by performing analysis, oversight, and reporting of capital requirements under the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book. The role is responsible for identifying and escalating material capital movements, data or methodology issues, and process risks in a timely manner.

Key Accountabilities

  • Analyze and review FRTB capital results, including the Sensitivities-Based Method, Default Risk Charge, and Residual Risk Add-On, and explain key movements.
  • Support accurate and timely regulatory and internal capital reporting, including controls, reconciliations, and issue escalation.
  • Investigate capital, data-quality, risk-factor mapping, methodology, model, and system issues, and coordinate their resolution.
  • Assess the capital and process impacts of new products, regulatory developments, methodology updates, and system changes.
  • Provide effective challenge over capital treatment, process design, and reporting outputs to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, automation, analytical capabilities, and process controls.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of FRTB requirements and communicate capital impacts clearly to management and stakeholders.
  • Act as a subject-matter resource for daily processes, support issue resolution, and provide guidance and cross-training to junior analysts.

Skills and Competencies

  • Relevant market risk, liquidity risk, or financial services experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic-thinking skills, with sound judgment and attention to detail.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to mentor team members through knowledge sharing and cross-training.
  • Good understanding of risk management, governance, regulatory compliance, and controls.
  • Experience with market risk measurement and reporting, including FRTB, Value at Risk and stress testing
  • Knowledge of financial instruments, regulatory requirements, and market risk metrics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; Python programming skills for risk analysis and reporting are an asset.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Risk Management, Business, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering, Physics, or another quantitative discipline.
  • Pursuit or completion of the CFA or FRM designation is an asset.
