Job Description:

TD Asset Management (TDAM), a member of TD Bank Financial Group, is a leading North American investment manager offering progressive investment solutions to both institutional and individual investors. TDAM has been managing multi-asset portfolios for over 35 years, drawing on one of the broadest investment platforms in Canada to help our clients meet their risk and return objectives. TDAM has a long history of developing customized investment solutions for Institutional clients, including Asset Liability Management (ALM) or Liability Driven Investing (LDI) solutions. For portfolios with defined liabilities and obligations such as defined benefit pension plans, and insurance companies there are critical risks and objectives to be managed by employing well thought out liability aware solutions.

In developing investment solutions, for pension and insurance clients TDAM blends knowledge of investment management and actuarial science with robust proprietary portfolio analytics programs to align assets and liabilities in a holistic, disciplined and flexible portfolio construction process. The goal is to deliver on client objectives.

TDAM is presently looking to add an Associate, Institutional Investment Portfolio Management.

Accountabilities:

  • Support multi asset class (i.e. fixed income, equities, private markets, derivatives) solution design, construction and management
  • Provide quantitative, programming and mathematical experience in the creation of innovative total portfolio solutions and analytics
  • Support members of the Portfolio Management team in the exercise of their day-to-day duties; including daily portfolio management of liability relative multi asset solutions, and custom segregated fixed income portfolios
  • Collaborate with business partners including risk management, relationship management, portfolio research & analytics, product specialists and client servicing representatives
  • Leverage tools and models to produce output and provide interpretation of results in the context of presentations for client meetings, responses to RFPs, or other marketing purposes

Candidate Profile/Core Competencies:

  • Degree in actuarial science, financial engineering, financial mathematics, or related field
  • CFA, CAIA and/or FSA/FCIA designation an asset
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience in asset management, asset-liability management, pension/insurance risk management or consulting
  • Prior experience and strong interest in building and using financial models and tools to support investment decision making
  • Good understanding of considerations related to designing and managing assets in an asset / liability framework
  • A self-starter who has the ability to function with minimal supervision and works well independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
  • Able to thrive in a fast paced, time sensitive, exciting team environment
  • Attention to detail is a fundamental requirement
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and VBA or other languages
  • Familiar with current financial market technology platforms would be an asset
  • Superior written and oral presentation skills
  • Bilingual, French-English, would be an asset
