“I can succeed as a Platform Cloud Engineering Manager at Capital Group.”
As a Platform Cloud Engineering Manager, you will lead a team that builds and manages a broad set of capabilities in support of our Public Cloud environments in AWS and Azure as well as our Infrastructure Automation platforms. You will be on the front line of Capital’s drive to run all environments in the Cloud. You understand how to design and deliver Cloud-based solutions that are secure by default and optimized for cost savings.
In this role, you will lead a team of Platform Engineers and be responsible for their coaching and professional development. You are a player-coach, passionate about our mission, and committed to driving superior long-term investment results through the application of modern engineering methods.
You will also have the role of being one of several Product Owners of the Mothership product under CG's Helix Cloud program with a focus on the sub-products your engineering team owns and delivers. The Product owner is tactically focused and instrumental in prioritizing team and sprint activities in support of the Product Vision and associated roadmap as defined by our consumers and the Mothership Product Manager.

- You have experience with Cloud engineering practices developing and delivering cloud native solutions
- You have experience with Platform engineering and owning critical centralized runtime platforms
- You have experience with Product Ownership of highly visible internal facing products and working closely with peer product and technology teams with cross-product integrations
- You are comfortable managing people potentially in multiple locations and time zones. Prior experience in leading teams is highly desirable
- You have a good understanding of product-focused development and enjoy working with Product Managers and Scrum Masters to ensure the efficient delivery of capabilities and commitments
- You have a bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Skills:
You have experience with the following technologies:
- You possess in-depth experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- You have a strong understanding of core cloud foundation services such as Organizations, Account vending, IAM, Landing Zones, Tagging, Networking and Logging
- You have experience in managing organizational cloud standards, guardrails, and implementing best practices across AWS and Azure, including SCP enforcement, tagging policies, and logging integrations.
- You have an expert level of knowledge with common AWS services
- You have strong experience in using Infrastructure as Code
- You have experience in managing Infrastructure Automation Platforms such as Terraform Enterprise (TFE) and Ansible Automation Platform (AAP)
- You are proficient in Software Development with languages such as Python, Java, or Go with the ability to script using Shell, Bash, Python
- You have 10+ years of experience working in Engineering technologies and 5+ years leading teams. Your experience has gained you familiarity with:
- Building large-scale, robust platforms, while owning and operating large widely adopted internal platforms
- Leading engineering teams that build and operate highly reliable, automated cloud foundation capabilities, ensuring uptime, performance, and adherence to service SLAs
- Lead, mentor, and grow engineering teams with a focus on innovation, automation, quality, and continuous improvement
- Implement monitoring, alerting, configuration drift detection, and operational readiness processes to maintain consistent foundation health
- Support internal risk management reviews and external audits (e.g., SOC1/SOC2, DORA, etc.) providing documentation, evidence, and compliance attestation for foundation capabilities
- Enable financial reporting, cost visibility, and consumption analytics to drive FinOps alignment, cost optimization, and budgeting transparency; partner with Finance on aligning cloud usage with budgets and optimizing spend
- Serve as the primary liaison with the CSP providers aligning vendor roadmaps, capability adoption, escalations, and incident/change management
- Identify and mitigate key risks across security, workforce skills, operational readiness, and technical debt
- You have a mastery of GitOps and Kubernetes orchestration.
- You have experience applying DevOps practices throughout the SDLC lifecycle using technologies such as JIRA, Confluence, Harness and GitHub
- You have experience in test automation and unit tests, as well as performing integration testing across multiple products
- You are familiar with Internal Developer Platforms such as Spotify Backstage
- You have experience in building resilient high uptime solutions with a good understanding of networking, directory services and identity access management dependencies
- You have prior experience with On-Premise to Cloud or Cloud to Cloud migrations

Southern California Base Salary Range: $179,273-$286,837
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
