Having committed over $28 billion since 2002, across more than 200 secondaries and portfolio finance investments, we have significant experience helping owners and managers of private equity assets navigate a wide range of situations. We provide professional and efficient execution, backed by our deep expertise and our reputation as a leader in the industry. Our collaborative sponsor-centric approach leverages our Primary Fund Investment and Co-investment capabilities to deliver real sourcing and information advantages from a universe of nearly 400 private equity firms globally.
Position Summary
AlpInvest is seeking to hire a Vice President within its Secondary and Portfolio Finance team focused on Portfolio Finance investments. Since 2018, AlpInvest's Portfolio Finance platform has provided credit-oriented capital solutions to managers and owners of private equity assets. AlpInvest provides a range of NAV-based loans, preferred equity and structured equity financings for private equity funds, GP management companies and LP Interest Portfolios while also actively pursuing credit secondary investments. This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing business that is seeking to expand a market-leading platform in one of the newest and fastest-growing segments of private equity.
Responsibilities
This hire will be a key member of the investment team working in a flat team environment directly with senior investment professionals. Key job functions include:
- Lead evaluation, structuring and execution of transactions within a fast-growing segment of the private capital market
- Manage due diligence process, including leveraging third-party resources and interacting private equity sponsors
- Develop and mentor junior investment professionals
- Determine appropriate valuations, legal/ tax structures and capital structures
- Prepare memos and recommendations for investment committee
- Negotiate transaction agreements and financing documents
- Prepare periodic investor updates and support Portfolio Finance fundraising activities

- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA is a plus
Professional Experience
The target candidate will have a minimum of 5 and up to 10 years of experience, with prior experience in leveraged finance, direct lending, opportunistic credit and/or fund finance. Successful candidates will be team players with the confidence to interact with private equity general partners through frequent direct interaction and ability to thrive in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment. The target candidate’s background will include:
- Familiarity with private equity and/or credit investments
- Previous experience in executing leveraged loan, high yield, preferred equity or similar credit-oriented transactions preferred.
- Advanced financial modeling capability, including the ability work without templates to interpret financial metrics when analyzing investment opportunities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Benefits/Compensation
The compensation range for this role is specific to New York City and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $250,000.

Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
