Fund Description
Carlyle Europe Technology Partners (“CETP”) is a pan-European growth & small-cap buyout fund with over €5bn currently under management, investing in technology companies. CETP seeks to partner with entrepreneurs and management teams and invest in businesses with substantial potential for growth which typically have enterprise values between €100m and €400m.
The multinational team of 26 investment professionals has over 90 years of aggregate transaction experience in the technology sector and invests across Europe with a focus on the main subregions DACH, the UK, France, the Benelux and Eastern Europe while also covering the Nordics and Southern Europe (Spain, Italy). CETP has a country-based structure with country teams focused on each of the above mentioned regions responsible for deal sourcing and execution in that region.
The team seeks to invest in companies that are either market leaders in their segment or promising challengers in an emerging area, where the business has intellectual property, assets or knowhow that underpin their business model and where there is potential to drive meaningful growth through multiple levers going forward. CETP has particularly strong experience in supporting investee companies in delivering growth through international expansion, new product investment, acquisitions and strategic repositioning as well as by leveraging the global reach of “One Carlyle” resources. The funds take a flexible approach to deal structure and invest levered and unlevered transactions, majority and minority equity positions, and provide both primary and secondary capital.
Position Summary
The Carlyle Group seeks to hire an Intern within the Carlyle Europe Technology Partners team in London. Throughout the 3-6 months, the intern will grow to become a key member of the investment team and work directly with other investment professionals in a country team setting. From day one, this individual will contribute to the full set of deal-making activities including deal origination, deal execution and portfolio management activities (more detail on the responsibilities below).
The individual will support CETP’s investment activities in the German-speaking region.
Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
The Intern’s role spans the entire investment and portfolio monitoring process, including:
· Deal origination and market screening: execute deal sourcing, company research and pipeline building activities for the German-speaking region.
- Due diligence: conduct primary research activities, execute key financial analyses and contribute to due diligence activities across all relevant areas (financial, commercial, technology, legal, tax, etc.)
- Deal execution: prepare and support drafting of investment memos and setting up the financial model.

Education, Certificates & Experience
- Strong academic record from a leading educational institution to Masters or, in the case of UK graduates, to Bachelor’s or Masters (2:1 minimum grade or equivalent).
- Previous internship in a similar environment such as investment banking, private equity, consulting, etc.
Competencies & Attributes
- Native fluency in German language, both written and spoken, required.
- Strong Excel / financial modelling skills, excellent analytical capabilities.
- Demonstrated interest in technology, technology companies and private equity.
- High intellectual curiosity to understand the fundamentals and economics of different companies, industries and investment opportunities.
- Entrepreneurial and proactive spirit, self-starter with ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Solid organizational skills, excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize.
- Strong interpersonal skills, adaptable, able to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- A true team player who is focused on the success of the team and willing to play any role to make the team successful.
