Position Summary
Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic execution of the enterprise data strategy through an actionable, results-driven roadmap.
- Lead the implementation of a federated data-operating model that aligns business unit data ownership, shared infrastructure, and enterprise-wide standards.
- Deliver on key pillars of Carlyle’s transformation agenda, including governance, modernization, and AI readiness.
- Drive measurable progress on high-value data and analytics initiatives across the enterprise.
- Partner with the CTO and business sponsors to prioritize data initiatives by strategic impact and time-to-value.
- Serve as Carlyle’s primary data transformation liaison to business and investment teams.
- Lead structured engagement with domain leaders across private equity, private credit, private wealth, secondaries, corporate services and investor relations.
- Champion a use case–driven approach: define, measure, and communicate the business value of data and analytics initiatives.
- Develop business cases, success metrics, and adoption frameworks that ensure accountability and transparency.
- Promote close coordination among business sponsors, data engineers, and AI teams to accelerate delivery.
- Shape and operationalize an enterprise-wide data governance framework that enables trusted, compliant, and reusable data.
- Define ownership, stewardship, and accountability models within the federated design.
- Establish data quality, metadata, and lineage standards that ensure data trust and interoperability across domains.
- Oversee compliance alignment (SOX, SEC, FINRA, GDPR, DORA) for enterprise data assets.
- Lead enterprise data architecture modernization, establishing a unified, best-of-breed data platform supporting analytics, automation, and AI.
- Build AI-ready data foundations: semantic layers, contextual metadata, and reusable data contracts for machine learning and generative AI.
- Partner with Data Science to design shared analytical pipelines, experimentation environments, and reusable data products.
- Oversee architecture standards, integration fabric, and data platform performance.
- Advance context engineering and semantic data modeling to make Carlyle’s data more accessible for AI and natural language analytics.
- Lead a blended team of employees and consulting partners across data engineering, architecture, and governance.
- Drive high-performance culture emphasizing speed, accountability, and collaboration.
- Define delivery sprints and OKRs, and track execution impact across use cases and data domains.
- Mentor future leaders and shape Carlyle’s next generation of data talent.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- Industry certifications in data management, cloud architecture, or analytics preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in enterprise data, analytics, or transformation leadership within asset management, private equity, or financial services.
- Proven record delivering complex, multi-domain data initiatives, balancing strategic vision with execution discipline.
- Deep familiarity with private markets data (fund, investor, portfolio, and transaction data) and associated reporting needs.
- Experience implementing federated data models, modern data platforms, and governance frameworks.
- Demonstrated success in AI enablement, including preparing data for generative and predictive AI, building semantic layers, and supporting applied machine learning initiatives.
- Familiarity with advanced analytics and predictive modeling life cycles, and understanding how to apply prompt engineering or context engineering so that business users can interact meaningfully with AI/LLM capabilities.
- Strong executive presence with ability to engage senior business stakeholders.
- Technically fluent in data engineering, architecture, and analytics technologies.
- Exceptional ability to translate business needs into actionable data and AI solutions.
- Deep technical fluency combined with business acumen, able to speak both engineering architecture and investment/operational language.
- Strategic thinker but also hands-on and delivery-oriented; able to bridge vision and execution.
- Collaborative, pragmatic, and outcome-oriented leadership style.
- Adept at operating in complex, matrixed environments.
