Position Summary
Carlyle AlpInvest seeks to hire an Analyst Product Specialist for our Investor Relations team. The analyst will gain exposure to the entire suite of Carlyle AlpInvest’s investment strategies but will primarily support the Portfolio Finance and Credit Secondaries platform, which represents the Firm’s newest strategy and is a key pillar of growth across the firm. As a longstanding leader in structuring customized liquidity solutions for the private equity ecosystem, Carlyle AlpInvest’s strategy delivers innovative credit and preferred equity capital solutions to private equity funds, general partners (GPs), and limited partners (LPs). The Analyst will be primarily responsible for supporting product development, fundraising, and client service efforts across the Institutional, Retail, and Insurance investor channels globally. The position will support Senior Product Specialists with marketing efforts, responding to investor diligence requests, and bespoke analysis for the AlpInvest segment as needed. Over time, the analyst is expected to interact with both existing limited partners and prospective investors. Successful candidates will be self-starters capable of proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement, anticipating business and client needs, able to prioritize across multiple projects all while consistently delivering high-quality work product under pressure in a deadline and detail-oriented environment. The Product Specialist role at Carlyle AlpInvest sits at the nexus of our sales and investment teams while collaborating broadly across the firm to execute critical fundraising initiatives that have a meaningful impact on growth in overall AUM.
Segment Profile: Carlyle AlpInvest
Carlyle AlpInvest, also known as AlpInvest, helps investors meet their objectives through tailored portfolio construction and rigorous investment selection. AlpInvest currently manages $102 billion of AUM across private equity and credit investments, and is a leading investor across the Secondary, Co-Investment, NAV / Fund finance, and Primary Fund markets. The segment has approximately 200 employees based in New York, London, Amsterdam, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
Fund or Department Description
The Carlyle AlpInvest Investor Relations (“IR”) team is responsible for IR-related activities across the segment, as well as new business development and fundraising activities across both its flagship fund products, as well as multi-strategy solutions for both institutional and private wealth client bases.
Responsibilities
- Carlyle AlpInvest Product Specialist support
- Drafting marketing materials for AlpInvest funds
- Support development of due diligence materials and legal documentation
- Help support syndication efforts of co-investment opportunities for financings
- Attend pipeline calls and investment committee meetings to stay current on investment opportunities
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to support the development and strategic positioning of new and existing product lines
- Work on various diligence requests
- Handle on-going and ad hoc investor requests
- Maintenance of data room materials and investor access
- Maintenance of investor pipelines and diligence request trackers
- CRM maintenance
- Investor Meetings & Events
- Assist with onsite investor meetings and conferences
- Act as a subject matter expert on AlpInvest’s investment strategies
- Develop an understanding of the existing assets and portfolios the firm is managing
- Stay current on the shifting market environment in which AlpInvest is actively investing
- Translate AlpInvest’s investment thesis and underwriting ethos into content suitable for a wide range of investor channels and varying levels of sophistication
Qualifications
Education & Certificates
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Series 7 and 63 required or to be obtained within 90 days of commencement
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience required
- Preferred experience includes: investor relations or business development within financial services, investment banking, capital markets, asset management
- Excellent computer skills, including ability to learn and become the subject matter expert in the systems used to respond to investor and Senior Product Specialist requests
- Self-Starter, with the ability to work well under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong quantitative capabilities
- Proven willingness to “live outside of the job spec” and contribute across the firm on an as needed basis
Position-specific Technical Requirements
- Advanced Microsoft Office (including Excel and PowerPoint) skills required
- CRM system including DealCloud is preferred
- Ability to quickly develop competency in manipulating various reporting platforms and systems to obtain usable LP data
Compensation/Benefits
The compensation range for this role is specific to New York City and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $150,000.
In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
