Carlyle AlpInvest Overview
Carlyle AlpInvest operates three closely integrated investment strategies: (i) Primary Fund Investments platform commits capital to new private equity and private credit funds, (ii) Co-Investments platform provides capital for direct investments alongside our relationship sponsors, and (iii) Secondary & Portfolio Finance platform provides liquidity solutions through a broad range of secondary and financing transactions.

Carlyle AlpInvest’s Secondary and Portfolio Finance team spans the globe and boasts decades of investment expertise and experience through market cycles. Having committed over $45 billion across more than 250 Secondary and Portfolio Finance investments over the last 25 years, we have significant experience in partnering with owners and managers of private equity and private credit funds across a broad range of liquidity solutions. Our collaborative approach leverages our Primary Fund Investments and Co-Investments capabilities to deliver sourcing and information advantages from a universe of nearly 400 relationship sponsors globally, supporting our strategic relationship angle across the Secondary and Portfolio Finance markets.
Carlyle AlpInvest is currently investing its $20 billion AlpInvest Secondary Program VIII and manages one of the largest dedicated Portfolio Finance funds, having raised $3.2 billion for AlpInvest Strategic Portfolio Finance Program II at its hard cap in Q2 2025.
Position Summary
Carlyle AlpInvest is seeking to hire a Vice President within its Secondary and Portfolio Finance team focused on Portfolio Finance and Credit Secondary investments.
Since 2018, Carlyle AlpInvest’s Secondaries and Portfolio Finance platform has provided credit-oriented capital solutions to sponsors and owners of private equity and credit assets. Carlyle AlpInvest provides a range of NAV-based loans, preferred equity and structured equity financings for private equity and credit funds, GP management companies and LP portfolios. Carlyle AlpInvest also pursues a broad range of credit secondary investments including continuation funds, strategic GP solutions and LP credit secondary purchases.
As Carlyle AlpInvest further scales the strategy, we are looking to hire additional mid-level resources within the investment team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a scaled, market leading platform with a broad investment remit in some of the fastest-growing segments of private credit markets.
Responsibilities
This hire will be a key member of the investment team working in a flat team environment directly with senior investment professionals. Key job functions include:
- Lead evaluation, structuring and execution of transactions within this fast-growing segment of the private capital market
- Manage due diligence process, including leveraging third-party resources and interacting with sponsors
- Develop and mentor junior investment professionals
- Determine appropriate valuations, legal/ tax structures and capital structures
- Prepare memos and recommendations for investment committee
- Negotiate legal documentation and financing documents
- Prepare periodic investor updates and support Portfolio Finance fundraising activities
Qualifications
Education & Certificates
· Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree is a plus
Professional Experience
The target candidate will have a minimum of 4 and up to 8 years of experience, with prior experience in portfolio finance, private credit and/or credit secondaries. Successful candidates will be team players with the confidence to interact with external counterparties through frequent direct interaction and ability to thrive in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment. The target candidate’s background will include:
· Strong familiarity with private equity and/or credit investments
· Previous experience in structuring and executing private credit investments, with preference for candidates with experience within portfolio finance and/or credit secondaries
· Advanced financial modeling capability, including the ability to work without templates to interpret financial metrics when analyzing investment opportunities
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
