Education & Certificates
• Bachelors degree is required.
• An advanced degree such as a Juris Doctorate or M.B.A. is highly desirable.
Professional Experience
• 10+ years of experience as a Government Relations executive with a major multinational company, Congress, or the Administration. Specific industry experience is an asset.
• The Carlyle Group’s portfolio companies span multiple continents; as a result international experience is desirable.
• An ability to quickly grasp and address the legislative and regulatory issues facing the industries in which the firm operates and how they impact the firm
• Well-versed in the trends of government relations and the art of building strong bi-partisan relationships.
• Global perspective and understanding of the implications that federal policies have on the global marketplace.
• A proven record of working on a broad scope of issues and having the ability to prioritize appropriately.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, leadership ability, initiative and creativity, and a high degree of skill and judgment while working within an environment that places a premium on collaboration and teamwork; strong coalition building skills.
• A thorough understanding of U.S. Congressional, Cabinet and Independent Agencies policy-making processes, including an understanding of the roles and decision points in the Executive agencies, The White House, the Senate and the House, as well as the role of think tanks and associations.

Benefits/Compensation
The compensation range for this role is specific to Washington, DC and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $190,000 to $210,000.
In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
