Your role at Clorox:
The Burt’s Bees Technical Services Team is seeking a Sr. Engineer/Scientist to provide technical leadership and support for Production Services - Process.The individual in this position will draw upon technical knowledge and experience to lead complex changes and improvements to the Burt’s Bees Supply Chain. Scope of the role encompasses technical leadership for projects and in some cases overall project management. This includes supply assurance, cost savings, quality issue resolution, and strategic sourcing activities for raw materials/processing/formula. Work will span internal and contract manufacturing.
We seek someone who is creative and independently driven to exceed expectations, applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills to a wide variety of projects and business or organizational initiatives, and who can inspire the same from peers.
The individual must deliver new ideas for cost savings and other types of projects, engage influentially with business and technical leaders, understand and communicate project risks, and identify potential business opportunities outside of assigned areas. We seek someone able to work with a group of professionals to achieve and take personal ownership for their work results. Candidate needs a strong working knowledge of manufacturing/operations/raw material processing. Comfortable taking a hands-on approach to collaborating with manufacturing facilities to drive change as well as working in the R&D laboratory and piloting facilities.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver excellent technical support in execution of key projects in Cost savings, Supply assurance, Brand Maintenance and technical issues resolution for the Burt’s Bees business.
- Ensure key interfaces between Production Services, Manufacturing, R&D, and Supply Chain are working well and effectively.
- Provide support and engagement for Production Services on key teams/forums including MTO and OTV.
- Lead cross functional teams to develop TRAP’s (Technical Risk Assessment Process) and MRA (Micro Risk Assessment).
- Drive partnership across PSO and R&D to influence discovery projects.
- Insure delivery of key cost savings, supply assurance, brand maintenance and issues resolution initiatives (QA/Plant).
- Recommend the potential acquisition of technical equipment and resources in order to improve the capabilities of the area.
- Enforce the correct and effective use of the PLM database in order to maintain updated the technical data and take advantage of it.
- Represent Production Services work to Burt’s Bees business and technical leaders, influence decision-making, enable work processes, and ensure adequate service levels to the division.
- Drive implementation, prioritization and execution of cost optimization, supply assurance and other supply chain goals.
- Utilize knowledge of material handling, manufacturing operations, test methods as well as other general science and engineering principles and methods to deliver goals.
- Self-manage complex assignments across multiple locations and products.
What we look for:
- 5+ years engineering, science or operations work experience.
- B.S. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- Experience operating in and effectively leading cross-functional teams
- Travel, primarily in North America, ~30-40%, and occasionally overseas
- Demonstrated technical depth in raw materials, processing and formula knowledge (preferred but not required), excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, with ability to explain desired results, risks and next steps to any audience
- Ability to identify, champion and institutionalize new tools, processes, and technologies
- Ability to communicate ideas in a convincing, influential manner and to interact with all levels of the organization
- Excellent written, interpersonal and communication skills, persuasive as well as documentary
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Strong technical and project leadership skills, assertive, self-directing is a must, able to manage up and down the organization with the correct level of authority and leadership.
- Growth mindset and commitment in setting and meeting aggressive goals and enjoy working in a variety of cultures and settings.
- Great interpersonal skills that help drive fact-based decision making across cross-functional teams.
