Your role at Clorox:

The Credit Manager is responsible for the overall credit exposure and risk management of the Company, ensuring that customers meet their financial obligations while minimizing credit risk to the Company. This position manages an offshore managed service provider (MSP) and is accountable to ensure the accurate and efficient processing of the credit management processes, including adherence to policies and procedures. This role requires strong leadership and influence with the ability to deliver business outcomes while governing an offshore team, maintaining strong relationships with financial institutions and internal stakeholders and ensuring a strong internal control environment.

In this role, you will:

Clorox Credit Exposure and Risk Management:

  • Credit Policy: Owns the Company’s credit policy and ensure it is aligned to Company’s commercial and financial strategy, balancing business growth goals with minimizing credit risk.
  • Credit Management: Evaluate credit applications, analyze credit data and financial statements to establish credit limits based on Company policies and risk assessment. Approve or decline credit application in line with company policies. Collaborate with Sales teams and Treasurer to balance risk and revenue.
  • Credit Exposure monitoring: implement and manage mechanisms to proactively monitor credit exposure and proactively identify credit risk using a variety of methods including credit bureau alerts, industry publications and peer groups, aging reviews, payment behavior changes and anomaly detection. Ensure timely order review process and approval.
  • Reporting: Provide all necessary reporting for monthly accounting close including Allowance for Doubtful Accounts, Order to Cash Reserve, working capital requirements and other reporting needs to support the monthly and quarterly financial statement close. Owner of ensuring data integrity and proactively highlighting issues and resolving as they arise.

Controls and Compliance:

  • Owner of Credit Management internal controls and compliance. Ensuring a strong control environment and controls are operating as designed. Identifying any deficiencies early and developing a robust remediation plan and ensuring executed and monitored timely and completely
  • Implements and manages controls to ensure controllership of function.
  • Monitors the receivable portfolio to identify area’s of risk and implements risk alleviation measures (reduce credit limit, increased collection pressure, etc).
  • Implements anomaly detection and other system controls to proactively identify customers displaying signs of financial distress.
  • Participates in Collection Account reviews and provides credit insights to help prioritize collection efforts. Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers to address overdue balances that impact credit worthiness and resolve issues promptly.
  • Maintain relationship with sales organization, addresses escalations, credit discussions and publishes the “accounts near credit limit” report.
  • Proactively identify issues and resolve escalated issues timely in accordance with defined protocol. Ensure these escalation matrices are updated frequently with new learnings and with a continuous improvement mindset. Escalate to OTC&C Accounts Receivable & Credit Delivery Lead proactively.
  • Owns and manages the SAP credit module implementation and use to ensure efficiency of credit process.


Governance of a MSP:

  • Accountable for the performance of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for Credit Management and developing and managing corrective actions as necessary. Proactive daily monitoring of performance including SLAs and quality of operations through business outcome indicators.
  • Provides direction and leadership to a team of outsourced resources, maintaining strong relationships, ensuring compliance with policies, standards and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with MSP in identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities that improves business outcomes , reduce manual work and simplifies processes.

Delinquent Account and Bankruptcy Management

  • Selects, identifies and manages collection agencies for collection on delinquent accounts.
  • Negotiate any settlements on past due balances and delinquencies.
  • Works with internal and external Counsel as it pertains to bankruptcies, credit disputes, delinquent accounts, to ensure deadlines and documentation required as adhered to, to maximize Clorox recovery.

Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity, including root cause analysis to inform process changes as needed and preventative measures to minimize future risk and ensure an efficient and effective end to end process.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: The ability to foster collaboration and coordination among diverse teams in different locations, ensuring they work harmoniously to achieve common goals. Proficient in negotiation and compromise, finding win-win solutions that meets the needs of various parties.
  • Vendor Management: Ability to manage vendor relationships and service level agreements to ensure 3rd party provider (MSP) consistently delivers SLAs and if below SLAs ability to develop, execute and monitor plan to improve performance and business outcomes.
  • Compliance and Controls: Strong internal controls knowledge and expertise with ability to identify gaps and improve controls, as needed, to ensure a sound control environment. High standards of quality to ensure services meet /exceed service level agreements with ability to develop and implement robust monitoring processes that identify and resolve issues quickly.
  • Data Analytics: Proficiency of data analysis and data-driven decision-making to optimize processes and service delivery. Ability to interpret financial data, identify trends and drive insights.
  • Ability to Influence: Guide and motivate others to achieve shared objectives while maintaining strong relationships and ethical standards.
  • Leadership and Motivation: inspire and motivate others, leading by example, strong coaching skills with ability to drive results and maintain morale in their organization. Ability to recruit and develop team and sets high standards across organization.
  • Effective Communication: The ability to communicate clearly, concisely, ensuring that instructions, expectations, and feedback are well-understood by team members, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Planning and Organizational skills: Strong planning and organizational skills, ability to prioritize based on materiality and impact to operations and financial statements and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • 10+ years of total relevant experience in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field ​
  • Experience in credit management and risk assessment
  • Strong knowledge of credit laws, financial analysis, and reporting
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Experience with Credit Management resource groups (share groups, Retailstat, credit agencies, etc)
  • Consumer Packaged Goods experience highly desirable
  • Proficient with various platforms including SAP S4Hanna
  • Experience overseeing an offshore MSP/ 3rd party provider

Workplace type:

Hybrid: 3 days a week onsite, 2 days work from home

Zone A: $106,700 - $204,900
Zone B: $97,800 - $187,900
Zone C: $88,900 - $170,800
