Your role at Clorox:
As the Assistant Manager of Accounting and Control for the Philippines, you will be responsible for managing and supporting the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely corporate financial reporting under both IFRS and US GAAP. You will manage the statutory audits, manage tax compliance and routine tax return filings, and administer the Sun Financial System. Additionally, you will support the Financial Controller, SEA, in implementing compliance and control initiatives.This position reports to the Financial Controller, SEA and has one direct report. The role is hybrid (3x a week in the office) based in Metro Manila, Philippines.
In this role, you will:
Financial Close and Reporting (40%)
- Execute monthly financial close activities in Sun System for the Philippines.
- Prepare and review IFRS and US GAAP financial reports, including reconciliations, accruals, and intercompany transactions.
- Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations and journal entries.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of internal and external reporting.
- Administer Sun Financial System, ensuring proper configuration, maintenance, and user support.
- Maintain accurate system records and troubleshoot issues as needed.
Statutory Audit and Tax Compliance (20%)
- Manage statutory audits, liaising with external auditors to ensure timely completion.
- Oversee preparation and filing of routine tax returns (Income Tax, VAT, and other local compliance requirements).
- Maintain a robust process to ensure the Philippines' tax compliance requirements are met accurately and in a timely manner
- Prepare tax reporting package for submission to Corporate Tax.
- Coordinate with corporate tax team and external advisors on tax matters.
Internal Controls, Compliance and Project Support (20%)
- Assist the SEA Financial Controller in implementing and monitoring internal controls and compliance programs in the Philippines.
- Monitor and resolve identified gaps in internal controls and Clorox policies.
- Drive continuous process and internal control improvements across accounting operations.
- Identify, develop, and implement continuous improvement to drive effectiveness and efficiency with a focus on increasing automation.
- Maintain documentation and ensure adherence to Clorox policies and SOX requirements.
- Review and refresh all local policies owned by Finance on an annual basis
- Support and participate in various strategic projects aimed at improving financial processes and compliance.
Lead/manage the day-to-day transactional finance Operations (10%)
- Manage the credit, accounts receivable, and collection process, working with cross-functional teams.
- Support HR with local payroll and employee benefits activities.
Other responsibilities (10%)
- Provide coaching, training and development to staff and facilitate the creation of an environment where all employees are engaged and inspired to excel
What we look for:
Years and Type of Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in finance and/or accounting, and at least 2 years in the role of Accounting Supervisor, Assistant Manager or Manager.
- Big four audit firm experience is a plus
- Experience in SOX and implementation of internal controls
- Global multinational FMCG experience is preferred
- Experience in corporate tax, VAT, and tax-related compliance matters.
- Experience in multinational business and cross-border intercompany transactions is highly desirable
Education Level/Degree:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA or International Equivalent
Skills and Abilities
- Strong planning, organising, communication, presentation, and influencing skills are essential to succeed in this role
- Ability to distil complex concepts and problems into simple terms and actionable tasks, particularly to cross-functionals
- Excellent collaboration and ability to develop strong internal relationships at all organisational levels
- Self-starter exhibiting personal initiative and creative problem-solving
- Knowledge in Sun System, Concur and SAP S/4 is a plus
- Well-versed with Microsoft Excel, Co-Pilot, and other automation tools
