Your role at Clorox:

Reporting directly to the Accounting & Controls Manager, you’ll take ownership of key accounting processes for our UK legal entity while providing vital support to European operations.

In this role, you will:

This role will involve leading the month-end close and managing general ledger transactions. You will be overseeing VAT reporting, cash transactions (AP & AR), and balance sheet reconciliation support group consolidations along with ensuring compliance with corporate policies and internal controls.

You'll play a key role in statutory audits and deputising for the Accounting & Controls Manager when required. Managing and developing one direct report, fostering growth and excellence.

The role is hybrid (3x a week in the office) based in Richmond, London, United Kingdom.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of all UK legal entity transactions.

  • Review daily transactions in Netsuite and manage accruals in line with UK GAAP.

  • Provide accounting support to European operations, including research, recommendations, and implementation of accounting changes.

  • Maintain data integrity across reporting systems.

  • Manage the SAP S4 Hana Group Reporting consolidation process, including posting US GAAP adjustment, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.

  • Monitor balance sheet accounts regularly to ensure accuracy.

  • Ad Hoc reporting for Sales, Marketing and Logistics teams.

  • Act as finance contact for projects as required.

Cash Management & AR/AP Oversight

  • Oversee the Order to Cash process in collaboration with Credit Control and Customer Service.

  • Mentor and supervise AR and AP Analysts to ensure accurate payables, receivables, and cash management.

  • Coordinate monthly intercompany reconciliations and payments with group entities.

VAT & Tax Compliance

  • Act as the key contact for VAT across Europe and the UK.

  • Collate, reconcile, and process VAT returns (UK and Netherlands).

  • Partner with tax advisors to ensure compliance and support statutory audits.

  • Assist with corporate tax returns, transfer pricing, and global tax compliance.

Internal Controls & Audit

  • Support the Financial Controller and Finance Director in strengthening internal controls.

  • Lead annual statutory audits, ensuring timely deliverables and stakeholder management.

  • Review and recommend updates to accounting policies to align with best practice.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, with a focus on automation and efficiency.

  • Provide regular trainings and updates to wider business on policies such as Travel and Expenditure, Prepayments, Procurement Policies.

What we look for:

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Experience

  • Newly Qualified or Finalist ACCA/CIMA/ACA with 4–6 years’ relevant experience.

  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and financial statement preparation.

  • Proven experience in statutory accounts, tax returns, and cash management.

  • Demonstrated people management skills (managing at least one direct report).

  • Experience working in a multinational or fast-paced environment preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate effectively to leadership.

  • Excellent understanding of internal controls and data integrity.

  • Advanced Excel skills; proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).

  • Experience with Concur Expense, SAP S4 Hana, Netsuite, and Anaplan desirable.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree, College Diploma, or equivalent.

  • Newly Qualified or Finalist ACCA/CIMA/ACA.
