Your role at Clorox:

The Research and Development organization is at the heart of our Clorox business, taking new generations of consumer products from concept to reality. With such diverse roles as engineers, scientists, mechanical designers and packaging experts, R&D is a community of technical leaders and managers actively involved in virtually every step in the lifecycle of our products, from initial concept to raw materials to final goods on store shelves. In this role, you will:

As a Burt’s Bees R&D Product & Process Development Scientist 1, you will support the development and commercialization of high-quality beauty and personal care products—from ideation and lab formulation through scale-up and start of production. You’ll collaborate closely with R&D, Marketing, Sales, and Supply chain to translate consumer needs into technical solutions. You’ll contribute to product testing, development trials, and manufacturing readiness while building hands-on experience in formulation, process development, and data driven problem solving. From day one, your work will help bring trusted Burt’s Bees products to market while you grow your technical capabilities and career within a collaborative R&D environment.

In this role you will:

  • Fuel innovation end to end: Support product formulation and process development across Burt’s Bees personal care portfolio – from bench to scale-up to commercialization – bringing high-quality, superior products to life for consumers.

  • Solve with science: Apply lab fundamentals, chemistry and engineering principles, and data-driven thinking to solve formulation, processing, and scale-up challenges – executing experiments and translating learnings and data into clear technical insights.

  • Own technical execution: Create and maintain product specifications, test methods, and process standards to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance throughout a project life cycle.

  • Deliver and launch: Support pilot- and manufacturing-scale trials – assessing performance, resolving technical challenges, and partnering cross-functionally to drive commercial readiness

  • Collaborate to win: Partner with R&D, Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain to align technical development with business and manufacturing needs – while growing your product development, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

  • B.S. Chemical Engineering, B.S. Biomedical Engineering, B.S. BioEngineering

Requirements:

  • Graduating between December 2025 and June 2026

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Strong lab fundamentals

  • Demonstrated curiosity and initiative in learning new ingredients, technologies, formulation approaches, and applications in personal care industry.

  • Foundational knowledge of process scale-up and manufacturing fundamentals

  • Confident self-starter and critical thinker, capable of working independently and collaboratively with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data using statistical analysis tools (i.e. JMP, Minitab

We use broad salary ranges that reflect the competitive market for similar jobs, provide sufficient opportunity for growth as you gain experience and expand responsibilities, while also allowing for differentiation based on performance. Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at Clorox in the first half of the applicable range. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.

–Zone A: $72,400 - $132,500

–Zone B: $66,400 - $121,500

–Zone C: $60,300 - $110,400

This job is also eligible for participation in Clorox’s incentive plans, subject to the terms of the applicable plan documents and policies.
