Your role at Clorox:
The Logistics Department is responsible for the palletization of finished goods, handling of raw materials, and shipping and receiving of all materials for the Amherst facility. The purpose of the Logistics Associate role is to fulfil a mix of duties including operating automatic and semi-automatic machines and conveyors, material handling duties to support production, and loading/unloading trucks.Starting Pay Rate: $24.30/Hour.
Schedule: Rotating Day and Night Shifts Throughout the Month (7 AM - 7 PM & 7 PM - 7 AM)
In this role, you will:
- Operate and maintain Palletizer systems which may include but is not limited to:
- Make mechanical and automated adjustments to palletizer systems; use hand tools.
- Operate and understand Palletizer control panels.
- Perform daily and weekly CIL’s.
- Hands-on participation with start-up, shutdown, and changeover procedures.
- Troubleshoot and maintain accumulation lanes.
- Operate and perform related tasks for manual stretch wrappers.
- Operate skid ticket printers and correct malfunctions.
- Work closely with Maintenance on improvement opportunities and preventative maintenance events.
- Enter work orders as needed for correcting machine/building abnormalities.
- Communicate and collaborate with Production departments on diverter issues and assist with corrections when available.
- Troubleshoot process issues for conveying and palletizing finished goods.
- Operate forklift as a material handler which may include but is not limited to:
- Stocking production lines with raw materials.
- Removal of scrap and waste materials.
- Operation of compactors for waste materials.
- Use of warehouse management system (EWM) and production tracking system (MES) as it relates to material handling duties.
- Unloading and loading trucks.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to tolerate sustained standing/walking up to 10 hours a day.
- Ability to perform occasional to frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to utilize good eye-hand coordination.
- Ability to perform occasional bending and squatting.
- Ability to tolerate kneeling and/or crawling in confined spaces.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to non-weather related hot temperatures.
- Ability to use coordination and dexterity in fingers while wearing protective gloves.
- Ability to push/pull material weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to reach to floor level, overhead and forward to work on machines.
- Ability to tolerate frequent stair climbing
- Lifting - up to 50 lbs.
- Task - product cases, film rolls, slip sheets, tear sheets.
- Carrying - up to 50 lbs.
- Task - product cases, film rolls.
- Grasping - positioning product cases, mechanical adjustments (tools), case jams. Pushing/Pulling - case jams, product buggies, pallet jack.
What we look for:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Willingness to train and qualify as a Hostler
- Ability to troubleshoot process issues.
- Ability to understand instructions, work procedures, reason and make judgments, plan, coordinate, and direct own work while coping with a variety of duties and expectations.
- Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays, for up to 7 consecutive days.
- Ability to work occasional mandatory overtime shifts.
- Ability to communicate clearly and distinctly (oral and written) with peers and supervisors; attend daily plantwide meeting to communicate needs and palletizing efficiency.
- Ability to perform effectively under stressful conditions, prioritizing job duties while working as an active member of the Distribution team.
- Ability to problem solve, making decisions quickly without direct supervision.
