Who we’re looking for

Toyota's One Tech SCaFT Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Principal Software Engineer II to drive technical excellence and innovation for our Toyota Logistics & Supply Chain business functions. The primary responsibility of this role is to lead a highly skilled development team in delivering high-quality technical solutions that align with the product backlog, ensuring both functional and non-functional requirements are met.

Reporting to the Senior Product Engineer, the person in this role will support the OneTech SCaFT department's objective to drive innovation, scalability, and quality in software development, ensuring timely and secure product releases.

What you’ll be doing

  • Overseeing technical design, strategy, and architectural decisions to ensure scalable, maintainable solutions that align with business goals.
  • Leading the development of solutions, resolving complex technical issues, and engaging in hands-on technical design.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with Product Owners, Domain Leaders, and other teams to manage dependencies and deliver features on time.
  • Mentoring and guiding the development team, promoting a focus on code quality, best practices, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring non-functional requirements such as security, performance, scalability, and system integrations are met through effective design and development.
  • Providing technical leadership and direction for critical projects and initiatives.

What you bring

  • 7+ years of software development experience with strong technical expertise in software architecture and system integrations.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with React and modern development frameworks.
  • Proven experience leading development teams and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Advanced proficiency in PostgreSQL/MongoDB, Node.js REST APIs, and front-end development tools (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Expert-level knowledge in DOM manipulation, creating reusable components, and working with testing frameworks like Jest.
  • Extensive experience with GraphQL, ECMAScript, and modern authorization mechanisms such as JSON Web Tokens.
  • Strong track record of leading teams through technical challenges and delivering high-quality products.
  • Excellence in technical design, conducting code reviews, and driving code quality improvements.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.

Added bonus if you have

  • Logistics/supply chain domain experience.
  • Experience working with large-scale, high-performance systems.
  • AWS or equivalent cloud certifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in transforming large scale applications from older technology to newer technology.
