Who we’re looking for:
The Product Planning & Strategy department seeks a passionate, highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager to lead Cross Carline Technology Strategy and support its mission to serve as the guardians of the customer’s voice.
Reporting to the General Manager of Cross Carline Planning, the primary responsibility of the Sr. Manager is to lead the identification of emerging technology-based customer needs, and prioritization of solutions to meet those needs. In this capacity, the role leads the product marketability function for TMNA, in partnership with key teams within R&D, Business Development, Quality, and other stakeholders.
The Sr. Manager must hire, lead, and train a team of subject matter experts responsible for cross-carline technology strategy and implementation, inclusive of passive and safety strategy. This team defines the technology roadmap for Toyota & Lexus vehicles (safety systems, autonomous, multimedia, software-based services, etc.), and is responsible for defining product requirements and pricing, as well as forecasting sales volumes and mixes across the lineup.
What you’ll be doing:
Oversight responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Leading a team that sets long-term cross-carline strategy for advanced technology and safety features, across all Lexus and Toyota products
Defines quantitative and qualitative consumer research approaches to assess the customer value of new technology features
Sets priorities of customer needs, and represents customer voice in negotiations with R&D teams
Creates product business cases and negotiates with senior executives for long-term investments
Negotiates implementation strategies for new technology features, including pricing, deployment plans, and take rates
Tracks all industry technology trends and benchmarks competitive systems. The team stays close to technology business partner development plans
Develops passive and active safety guidelines related to FMVSS, NHTSA, and IIHS, and actively monitors changes in the regulatory landscape.
What you bring:
Bachelors Degree
Strong expertise in quantitative and qualitative research and analysis
Exceptional strategic mindset
Solid familiarity with automotive technology or other relevant technology categories, especially consumer technology (inclusive of multi-media/telematics, AD/ADAS, AI, and other emerging features)
Demonstrated experience building and leading teams of people
Added bonus if you have:
MBA
Product planning or strategic planning experience
UX design and/or engineering experience
Familiarity with FMVSS, NHTSA, IIHS
