Who we’re looking for:
Toyota’s Integrated Vehicle Systems – Automated and Electronics Evaluation department (IVS-AEE) is looking for a passionate and highly motivated EMC Engineer. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) performance of all vehicle electronics systems and their environments, as well as developing future strategies, continuously improve the technical capability and efficiency across the organization. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the department's objective to develop electronics systems and vehicles that bring delight to our customers.
What you’ll be doing:
Develop full-vehicle EMC performance based on parts and systems specifications, design, parts test results, and experiments at a vehicle, system, and component level.
Apply processes to ensure vehicle EMC regulations and certification are achieved.
Contribute to TMNA capability growth toward component, BEV, and autonomous vehicle EMC performance.
Consult, collaborate, and resolve technical conflict as EMC engineering representative with internal and external customers, consulting with project leadership and/or Subject Matter Experts (SME) as needed.
Support DR’s (design reviews, ‘noise DR’) with R&D design groups.
Leverage EMC simulation, performance prediction tools, and part design/packaging guidelines in support of prototype-less and accelerated vehicle development.
Help to identify gaps in component and vehicle EMC validation methods.
Proactively improve and create new processes to improve EMC laboratory quality and efficiency.
What you bring
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or similar degree.
Electronics circuit design experience in a professional or academic project setting.
2+ years of electronics lab experience, including the use of oscilloscopes, receivers, and RF antennas.
Willingness to travel both domestically and abroad, up to 10%.
Willingness to work on-site a minimum of 4 days per week.
Willingness to work 10% or more overtime, based on project needs.
Willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment, and an attitude of approachability and capability to work collaboratively across boundaries.
Functional understanding of automotive components, including accessory electronics and actuators.
A driver’s license valid in the United States.
Added bonus if you have
An advanced degree, training, or certification related to EMC.
Strong technical knowledge and experience with EMC performance specifications and technical reporting.
1 or more year of experience in project management.
Minimum 1 year of experience in the EMC field.
Japanese language capability.
Toyota Middle Class drivers’ license.
