Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Body Weld Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Senior Production Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead new business introductions for Body Weld’s shop and support technical projects and problem solving.
Reporting to the Body Weld Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Body Weld department's objective to achieve daily manufacturing Key Performance Indicator targets, study new business opportunities, and successfully roll out the introduction of new business.
What you’ll be doing
Support hoshin achievement by participating in assigned activities.
Work closely with Production supervisors and engineers to promote achievement of daily & project based KPI’s.
Communicate / Coordinate / Negotiate with team members across organizations (Stamping, Quality, Production Control, etc.) to gather accurate information and solve complex problems
Support functional/operational management responsibilities including kaizen and standardization activities to support KPI achievement.
Manufacturing shop technical support and daily problem-solving of assembly & shop issues - inclusive of technical procedure development and engineering reporting
Engineering project management/implementation (Must be able to work weekend and shut down support as needed – provide support and coordinate activities as needed to insure zero impact to Production from any changepoints)
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a technical discipline or 5 years equivalent related work experience
4+ years of Production Engineering in a manufacturing setting
Strong Microsoft Office knowledge/experience and an ability to use AutoDesk applications (AutoCAD)
Ability to develop/review technical documents (Drawings, Reports, Manuals, Technical Specifications) for engineering use
Ability to create and deliver presentations that can be understood by many different audiences
Ability to develop a Scope of Work to submit for bid to contractors
Added bonus if you have
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
2 + years of Body Weld experience (establishing weld schedules, interpreting resistance weld integrity, body accuracy fitment, equipment knowledge)
Toyota TBP panel completion &/or Toyota Ringi writing experience
Possess a basic understanding of Risk Analysis Tools such as PFMEA
CATIA Experience
Automotive Production Engineering experience
Supervisory experience with responsibility for direct reports, in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of RJ development for new or existing processes
Working knowledge of SAP Ariba or similar procurement and supply chain management systems
