Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s Corporate Shared Services Division is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Workplace Strategy Manager.

The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the development and implementation of workspace design strategies for the North America portfolio, as well as the delivery of projects in accordance with Toyota and industry standards.

Reporting to the Workplace Strategy, Planning & Construction Senior Manager, the person in this role will support the People & Property Services Department's objective to create, document and sustain optimum built environments for a national portfolio of primarily non-manufacturing locations.

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to a team of workplace strategists designing and delivering projects across multiple sites with various levels of complexity, budget and internal customers.

  • Lead the development of workplace strategies, interior workplace standards, long term master planning direction and be a champion for change within the workplace by gaining executive consensus on design planning direction.

  • Optimize resources to execute department strategy among supported sites and manage capacity/capability of direct report workplace analysts and furniture/design project managers.

  • Manage FF&E contracts, create KPIs and track related performance for project implementation and suppliers/vendors. Analyze results to identify gaps and create potential countermeasures that can be adopted across multiple regions.

  • Manage the overall budgetary process for the workplace strategy group. Develop presentations for review with site contacts and executive leadership and provide regular financial updates including cost containment measures.

  • Provide justification input to customer business units in support of business case development and manage timing of approvals with customer expectations and project implementation teams.

  • Manage multiple workplace solutions with various architectural firms and vendors/suppliers and understand the risks and complexities of each unique strategic plan or project.

What you bring

  • Experience in workspace programming, space planning, standards development, portfolio-wide master planning and furniture project management.

  • Ability to identify facilities and operational constraints that may impact workplace design and customer requests.

  • Coaching skills to drive process improvements and problem solving that resolve issues with systemic and sustainable countermeasures.

  • Success in developing and fostering close relationships with multiple levels of management (including executives) and business units across regions.

  • Industry experience that supports best practice development and benchmarking.

  • Effective communication skills to influence and persuade others on holistic workplace design and standards.

  • Degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related field.

Added bonus if you have

  • Management-level experience with diverse corporate portfolio oversight.

  • Prior work experience with interiors, architectural or construction firm.

  • Design experience for childcare centers, dining facilities, light industrial facilities, and/or office interiors.

  • Experience using CAFM systems, AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Microsoft Project.

  • Interior Design Certificate (NCIDQ), Architectural license or Project Management Professional Certificate (PMP)
